It's a fairly even mix of young people who are actually passionate about the topic and motivated to learn, /v/-style shitposters, manchildren and people who make time for it when they can among their adult ass responsibilities like wives and kids.

/vr/-tan is a pretty accurate blend of the best qualities of all three of these types.

Leaving your parents basement, graduating, having to work to be able to afford food/rent/mortgage payments, being forced to socialize at said workplace, supporting a gf/wife/2&½ kids or any variation thereof does a lot to "normalize" a person. That said, having steady income also means you can finally afford all this cool stuff you wished you had when you were a kid/missed out on.
