Does anyone here collect nearly exclusively imports? Do you display them on shelves or do you keep them in a box? Do you own anything rare?

>> No.2078801

I'm planning on starting a wonderswan collection after the holidays~

>> No.2078858

I have a SNES flashcard and Im not goin to use +50$ original games.
So I buy Jap games.
Cover art is far better , box is cool , and they are fucking cheap

My setup looks exactly like that, down to the DQ4 cart.
The only difference is that I haven't AV modded mine

I have a Famicom on the way, I don't plan on a/v modding it either. It's not that bad, is it?

Most of my saturn games are imports, that and the PC engine are probably the best systems to import for imo.

If your TV can't tune up to channel 95 or 96 it's useless.

Assuming you're in the US, you can use a cable-ready TV tuned to CATV 96.

I don't know about yet but I was talking quality wise. I hope I won't have too many issues setting it up when it arrives.

Make sure you have a thick ass cable or else your local radio stations are gonna make the video fuzzy.

Is AV modding it hard? I can't solder for shit.

>Exclusively Imports?
Only for Super Famicom. I have a mixed NES/Famicom library, will probably import some Playstation whenever I get around to modding my console. I'd love to get a PCEngine and a Saturn, also, but importing consoles is expensive.
>Do you display them on shelves or do you keep them in a box?
I put them on shelves. Not really for display (though I like that also) it's just easiest to access them this way.
>Do you own anything rare?
I have Sutte Hakkun boxed for the Super Famicom, I've heard the game is supposed to be rare.

I have a lot of imports. Many are rare. I don't display them.

It's an easy mod for hobbyists, the trick is not cracking the plastic while installing the RCA plugs. I got my model 1 Famicom modded in a trade, it should be easy enough to do the same.

What's a good tutorial in case I won't be able to hook it up to my TV and will be forced to mod it?

>> No.2083553

>Does anyone here collect nearly exclusively imports?
My collection is 90% japanese, 10% burger (burgergames mostly N64) But I'm a eurofag, so it's all "imports" to me. I won't touch 50hz shit.

>Do you display them on shelves or do you keep them in a box?
I play them.

>Do you own anything rare?
Rarest thing I have is a 64DD. Bought it solely for F-Zero X Expansion.

Now I do!
>Live in US
>Thrift always
>See brick GB in decent shape
>Sticker says "but wait, there's more"
>Comes with bag of CIB japanese games.

Nothing too rad, and the gameboy had vert lines, but the fix worked... so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I do own a lot of Japanese games, but only a handful of them are retro.

Super Robot Wars Alpha, Alpha Gaiden, Link Battler, 64.

Then I have the JP versions of FFVII, VIII, IX, Valkyrie Profile, SaGa Frontier 1 & 2, Persona, Chrono Cross, Guilty Gear, Legend of Dragoon, Star Ocean 2, Xenogears, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

I don't think any of those really count as being "rare." Not in Japan, anyway.

Tell me more about burgers, please. I have a vested interest here.

>> No.2083923

I collect mostly imports. Most of the time the audio chipsets are better and prices are way better. Theyre usually in better condition as well

I installed a 3.5mm TRS jack on mine where the RF output was. no need for modding the case.

I've got a memory separately so it's fine but I couldn't find it CIB for a good price.

It's a pretty cute game.
