The only Arrows I've been on were a conventional corkscrew and a hypercoaster. Both were okay, not as rough as you'd think. But the worst part of a corkscrew is the bank going into it, pic related. It slams you to the side of your seat and restraint, where you stay for the remainder of the corkscrew.

The worst part of an Arrow hypercoaster... well, let's just say you shouldn't ride the Magnum XL-200 on the front two cars of a train. Those bunny hills at the end of the ride will give you some interesting thigh pain.

Brimble Woods doesn't really feel spooky, it feels medieval. All it's missing is a big castle and it would be complete. Corvus is one of the coolest uses of merged track with that dive near the end. Voodoo is cool too, it's a shame the sloped fences can't be saved with the track design. Plus that little spiral coaster is adorable. I think this one was my favorite.

The Void is such a cool idea, and the Colostomy Inferno wild mine coaster is a very cool ride. Bloodlines looks awesome but the trains are always empty.

Fridotopia has a good "conventional park" feel, and looks worn out and dilapidated.

Blackwood Asylum is full of good rides. I love how the Fatality inverted coaster dips into the spike pit.

Spankmaster's Spineripper coaster looked great, with pieces of broken track all over, but I think the Experiment vertical coaster was the best in the park.

Monday_'s park had huge rollercoasters, and they were generally well made. I was sort of puzzled why the mine train coaster in the corner was closed off, but it had a good abandoned feel to it. This one is a very close second only to Brimble Woods.

All in all, I think everyone did a good job. Every park had something good going for it.

And on the other side of the park are some flat rides and a small coaster.
Yeah, I know it's just a recolor of DeJa Vu from Six Flags. Yeah, I know the support structures for the lift hills are the same, but goddamnit, shuttle coasters are an ingenius idea, and just look cool.

Also, the rides inside of the buildings are a Lauched Freefall (no shit), a Carousel, and two Swinging Inverter Ships in the top building.

Basically you have one half of the track lead into a second station which then will lead back to the original station, so it's all just one big continuous track. It's a lot harder to build a dueling coaster this way because you have to build both sides before you can test it to see how the trains race each other.

Not him and I apparently forgot to save a pick of it, but you can have two stations together, have a dip of 10ft and have the track curve sharply just outside of the station in opposite directions just outside of the station, have one side a larger curve, a little straight track with a hump or dip and then the lift hill, the other side meanwhile snakes diagonally under the stations and straight to the lift hill.

If you do it at ground level and bury the track, all you're left with is the stations, the first curve and the lift hills shooting out of the ground and the trains will be synched. It's a pretty cool effect and one I love.

If you're confused over how to do it, ask and I'll quickly build it for some pics.

Everything after the first 2 pieces of track out of the station can be buried underground, until it shoots out of a hole of the ground for the lift hill. If the trains don't synch up perfectly, you can change the left side track to a diagonal for a soft 'S' turn instead of a hard 'S' turn. and you can add or remove humps / dips from the right hand track in order to lengthen the time it takes the train to reach the chain lift.

With a little experimentation you can easily get them to go up the hill side by side, works great.
I got them both side by side with one coaster by building a quick loop to behind the second station, building the second station and then removing the loop around track. Lets me build both sides at the same time and have it still be one coaster.

Pic for reference. This is the shortest and most basic version, realistically the underground part should be elongated about 4 tiles or more to give you room for dips / humps / whatever and changing the layout slightly, so that the trains synch up perfectly.

The brakes furthest at the back are block brakes, the rear station is exit only and the forward station is entrance only, if it wasn't obvious.

When you don't see complex elements or spaghetti-like mess the wise thing would be to ask yourself "what should I see here then?" and not hurry to write about how stupid the poster is. My pic shows 4 coasters go thru same points and interconnect (?) here and there. That's what I was trying to show - coasters going on top of each other, under and shit like that. The guy I was talking to seems to do what I see here done A LOT - just one isolated coaster after the other with 999 trees around it. I dont like that.

People do that because that's how real coasters are done. Mixing coasters and having them look good takes a lot of effort. Just building a series of coasters in the same area as in that shot looks like shit - clashing woodies and steel, fairly boring with significant straightaways, zipping right by gentle rides probably scaring the shit out of children in line, etc.

Even resolving to make multiple interacting coasters, they need to be designed as a package and ultimately end up being discrete and separate from everything else as with single coasters, just with multiple interacting tracks.

Use your 10k on that, and then with the money you make from those rides, place down stalls, bathrooms, etc. By then you should be making loads. Then if it's in the scenario, build a log flume, rake in more cash, and then build rollercoasters.
This seems like a very long process, but it actually goes after than you think.

Remember to watch the G ratings: the vertical ones can be a little more forgiving if they're in the red but laterals will completely fuck your ride if they get too high. Bank your turns, there's no need to take hairpins at +80mph. If a ride hits ulra-extreme there's a 90% chance it's due to laterals. Try not to go overkill on inversions unless you're trying to replicate something like The Smiler.

So, wait, adding scenery increases Intensity?
I closed the ride to modify it so I can add a tunnel after the first drop, and the intensity went up, when nothing about the ride was changed.

And no, the guests won't ride it. Or, at least, most of them won't.

ok, so, i've been browsing this thread and the wiki lateley and thanks to that, finally got my first rollercoaster that has significantly higher excitement- than intensity-rating

i was careful to make most curves banked and add an underground section.

i was really surprised at those specs though, because i estimated the first drop to be too extreme

watcha think, /vr/ ?

Pretty good. You've got enough intensity to cater to the 4+ crowd, and enough excitement to make a lot of money. That's a pretty good sweet spot for that size of roller coaster.

To be honest, the objective isn't that hard. It's just getting guests in your park.

And I think scenery really helps with getting guests into your park, because lots of scenery gets you the "Most beautiful park" award, and I think that contributes to attracting guests.
At least it seems like it. Could be all in my head.

Either way, I want my park to be pretty as fuck,

Ok, so the scenario was a little different in the beginning stages.

I completed the test run through the scenario and it didn't pop and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Then I figured out it must be this small corkscrew you start the map with being counted as one of the 5 coasters. Being a protected ride, it can't be altered meaning it can't reach the 7.00 excitement rendering the map unbeatable. So I deleted it, replaced it with a spiral slide - unprotected just to be sure and upped the excitement to 7.20 and figured that was the end of that.

Somehow, the game still thinks the coaster still exists and won't do anything even when the scenario is beaten. One can argue that the boats are counted as a water ride but this is not the case. Another scenario of mine, Velocity Valley, can be beaten with one of the 10 coasters being that same water coaster.

It was never my intention to infuriate everyone that played the map, and for that I'm sorry.

Do coasters get stuck when the trains are touching two block sections?
Two of the coasters in my park that have that both got stuck. As in, the ride was open and everything, but the trains weren't moving and everyone was stuck on the ride.

What the fuck?

If a train is using two block sections, and you're using (block sections - 1) trains, then the next train can't go through to the next block section because it's being used by the train in two block sections which causes a domino effect. Try removing a train.

For reference, refer to my shitty attempt at showing it as a diagram.

That's not at all what I would have suspected. I don't suppose you can pull up the landscape in the scenario creator, place the five rides down, and then re-save the scenario and it would work then?

Also the Spiral Slide is still a protected ride at the start of 5 corners, but from doing a test I made of the scenario with the slide removed it still wouldn't pop so I don't think it's the slide.

When I was remaking the Megaworld Park scenario, somehow the initial guest happiness upon entry set itself down to like 30% as I was working on it, when I know I had it at 70%-ish when I started. I was already done with the park and I couldn't find a way via trainer or anything to change it. I wasn't about to restart the whole project just for that one little thing, so I rolled with it. Guests would get their happy back soon enough anyway.

Just goes to show RCT2 is EXTREMELY restrictive when it comes to editing things post-Scenario Editor when it doesn't need to be.
