/vr/ - Retro Games

It's pretty stiff, awkward, and balls hard, but it's not all bad. I wish there were more beat 'em ups with fighting game style combos and specials.

I could never adjust to the fact you had to push a button just to turn around.

The controls in this game suck. Mortal kombat special forces on other hand, is not as bad as people claim it to be.

It has really, really bad controls. Its the mk fighting game control layout on a PLATFORMER. And it is kinda stiff and has some cruel platforming and cheap ass traps that kill you instantly with no warning. It also has a button to turn subzero around (he doesnt turn back automatically.
Play mythologies sub-zero ONLY if you really are a hardcore mk fan

I remember this shit game having a lot of input lag.

It's far from being retro, but Shaolin Monks was such a blast to play, I remember the fun coop action that I had playing that game with my cousin.
And it was also full of so many fucking secrets, I don't think I ever found all of them.

What is good:
- Those FMVs (if you're into real actors)

What is bad:
- Input lag
- Platforming is stiff as fuck
- Normal enemies range from unmovable brick to 7 hit combo your ass, randomly
- You can't see much of what's in front of you, so you'll have to take some leaps of faith
- That fucking final boss

Shaolin Monks is one of the best brawlers by far.

I believe there was supposed to be a Liu Kang or Scorpion Mythologies game, but since this one bombed, they didn't go ahead with it.

If you want to play something just as bad, load up Batman Forever on the SNES. Same control style.

The n64 has no fmvs. So its even worse than the ps1 version.

Batman Forever is similar in style, but much less stiff. I picked the Genesis version up at a shop for a couple bucks a few months back and enjoyed the hell out of it.

Fucking great game and unfairly shit on

I enjoyed the hell out of it when I was a kid.

I had it on a bootleg disc that also included MK4 and MKT, and it was definitely the most fun single-player out of all three.

I played the hell out of the first half because it took me forever to figure out how to operate the lifts in the Prison. The Bridge can fuck right off.

I thought the gameplay was fuck awful, the hit detection was shit, especially for platforming, and the difficulty was pretty high in a cheap way.

I remember it being shit, even back then when I was a huge MK fanboy.
I still had fun playing it with my friend because we'd laugh at how bad it was.

I traded it for Diddiy Kong Racing because I thought DKR was too hard

I wish I could have laughed off how bad it was, I thought it was just cringe worthy and I was also a big MK fanboy back in the day. I've always been a good sketch artist so my friends and I would make up our own MK characters and I'd draw them at recess.

This game just sucked, I'm glad it was a rental and not a lot of money wasted.
