>>2004050

Deadline is November 1st. Download the file and drop it into your saved games folder. No need to complete the objective (you can if you want to, I suppose). Create the best spooky themed park you can and we'll all vote at the end of the contest. Trainers and such are allowed.

When you're finished with your park, upload it to a file sharing site (mediafire is easy to use) and post the link on the Collab Parks Google Doc (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhGqM6X4U4_MdEVFYU83ZGVwRm9DVno0ZWdXbUkwRkE&usp=sharing).). Optionally, you can add an imgur album of pictures to go with it for easy viewing.

So I deleted the Air-Launched Vertical coaster for this. Even trade.

Also, I fucking hate the isometric view of this game. It makes being really tall things a pain in the fucking ass because it just blocks vision of parts of the park, so I have to work around that shit, and bleh, fuck it. Deleted it.
Especially when the peak of the hill was blacking the station of this ride. Made me sad.

Every time I see this mountain scenery waterfall themed coasters, it's always placed at the corner of the map. I know it's difficult with RCT's terrain tool but it's too obvious that people like cutting corners - no pun intended. Why not challenge yourself? Build an entire mountain instead of a pissy little one. The amount of time you spend on scenery in RCT is proportionate to how good it looks, I feel.

Do this, put the mountain exactly so the twister coaster track at the bottom of that screen rests right on top of the mountain.

Then make a shitload of tunnels to go along with your good foliage and rock choices.

Remember to use tree heights and placement to your advantage, a tree clearing/druidic area on top of the mountain would add to spook factor. Then it's balancing coloring around the whole thing, the dark grey/green of the mountain can work.

So do that by making the ride longer. With block sectioning, you get more people on the ride and off the paths. If you artificially increase intensity in a shitty way, you hurt the excitement, which directly affects park rating.

>artificially increase intensity
No such thing. Excitement scales with intensity up to 10 then plummets. If you're referring to it not being realistic then you shouldn't be playing videogames. Also its a giga, you can send it flying into a concrete wall and guests will like it.

>affects park rating
No it doesn't. A coaster with 4 excitement and 12 intensity will still keep guests happy but not as much as a coaster with 8 excitement and 9 intensity. Also, not as many people will ride it.

There's nothing wrong with what he did. Extreme Heights calls for extreme measures.

>> No.2031725

>>2031696

Have you ever played extreme heights? Even if your coaster has excitement 10 and intensity 7, guests won't ride it because it's too boring. You really need to artificially increase it to stupid levels.

And my park rating was fine. Hence why I beat the scenario. But thanks for trying to teach me what block brakes are for when clearly every coaster in that screenshot uses them.

>Excitement scales with intensity up to 10 then plummets
If you ignore 1-2 points of excitement sway, sure, that's the general trend. You can hurt excitement with shitty design before intensity hits 10. This should be pretty fucking obvious given that the broken giga/hyper can have stats of 7/5 but also 6/6. It's less obvious but still clearly present with all other types of coaster.

>but not as much
That's the point. Higher excitement means a larger boost to happiness. If everything else is great such that it doesnt take much to keep guests happiness topped off, then fine, but it is certainly not irrelevant.

>>2031725
You can shit a bunch of hills to kick the intensity up without resorting to a 4g turn. One need kinda strain to see block brakes everywhere in that screenshot, but that wasn't the point in mentioning them. A longer ride allows more block sections which amplifies their affect.

I wasn't attacking you, but that mentality, as making the ride retarded is disgusting. In attacking the mentality, of course I fully explain the alternative, including the min/maxing shit. I'm just expressing the sentiments of the other two complainants in a far more verbose way.

Don't worry, I wasn't feeling attacked or anything. And in general, I would agree with you. Even with scenarios, I generally put special effort into making the parks pretty and realistic.

However, Extreme Heights is just a special case. Most realistic-style coasters just won't hit the required intensity. In fact, iirc, that orange Giga was consistently one of the most popular coasters in that park.

And you also can't just make the coasters eternally long, because even with my "retard-coaster" approach, space became an issue.

EH is one of my least favourite scenarios anyway, I'm glad it's sort of a one-off.

For me, it's the towns that were built during the gold rush specifically, where a fuck ton of murders occured each day. God knows how many unmarked graves there are in those towns.

If a ride is exciting enough you can charge over $15 a ride and they won't complain, though you will need to keep an eye on it as the allure of a new ride will wear off before a year is up. Yeah, all I'm trying to figure out is if there's a demand curve or if it's just "cheap; fine; too expensive". The coaster is supposed to be making 7k an hour but I'm still only getting a slow drip of $750 a month.

>> No.2038194

>>2038186
The curve goes sort of like "Cheap, fine, no fucking way." At a certain point, no one will ride something, and you have to stay alert because as a ride ages, the price people are willing to pay to ride it goes down as well. Check your ride popularity list periodically.

>> No.2038363

Is the coaster running on maximum capacity? I.e. are the trains always full, and are there enough people to fill them or do they sit around the station waiting for passengers? If so, short of adding more trains, there's not much you can do to make more money from it.

If not, it's probably not the coaster's fault, but rather that you don't have enough people in the park. Building a few more cheap things (gentle and thrilling rides), and making sure you have all the shops/toilets etc. people need, should help. Keep your park rating high and people will keep coming.

Also, a fuckhueg coaster right off the bat is usually not the best approach, I've found. I recommend starting with one or two small to medium coasters and not building something massive until at least year 2.

>> No.2038883

If you're gonna have such a contrast between your starting area and the coaster's colors, maybe an idea to have insanely different scenery as well. So instead of symmetrical, blocky buildings you could try dicking around with landscape and abstract scenery?

If you want the coaster to blend in with the rest I'd suggest adding some simple foliage, flowers, some simple buildings around the lift hill/brakes and just make it twist through trees and shit. That's what I tend to do, generally.
