Sp00ktober Contest (>>2003436)

https://www.mediafire.com/?rqd6nfqob3rfdkb

Deadline is November 1st. Download the file and drop it into your saved games folder. No need to complete the objective (you can if you want to, I suppose). Create the best spooky themed park you can and we'll all vote at the end of the contest. Trainers and such are allowed.

Alright, so, I'm gonna RCT2.
There's this dude I know who can borrow a disk from, so I can install the game. I will then copy the disc as an iso, and then have some shit done to be able to run the game without the disc itself.

What can I expect in terms of technical difficulties i.e. "RCT2 can't iso" or "You better forget about cutsom stuff" or whatever?

it's not THAT difficult. It's pay for rides and you get go karts right off the bat. Co struct a compact 6+ woodie for some income, then start on cheap coasters like thw Virginia reel. It's easy to make compact and you can use the landscape a lit since it can't go high anyway. Then focus research on coasters and borrow some money if you really need to. Cost me about 6-7 years, but it was pretty doable. Save Hyper and Giga for last; their god tier stats and high construction means you can weave em through anything and still be good.

Don't feel like you have to fill the whole 100x100 map. I made it bigger than the last one so people have a bigger area to work with if they want it. I included the black tile object in the misc tab so you can place them down to make the map look smaller if you don't plan on using the whole land.

Also, if I may make a suggestion: delete any footpaths that the scenario has already placed as soon as you start the scenario, except for the paths that are near or in a straight line from the entrance. I don't mean to brag here. I'm seriously honest with that, but I'm just pointing out on how my spiral coaster got more than this hyper twister coaster. Shouldn't it be the other way around. Sure yours probably doesn't go underground, and mine does--but that's excused by needing a higher ground to get a higher chain lift.
But anyways here's what I have done so far. I looked at the spiral chain lift and decided to build a tower between there. And that reminded me of Barad-dur (Tower of Sauron) with Sauron's eye on top. And that's where I decided to call the rollercoaster "Wizard's Tower". I'm also planning to make a haunted woods themed area to the right of this picture, and in front of the big volcano, and as the forest goes towards the big volcano the trees become dead trees.

Again! My spiral rollercoaster >>2015264 has higher excitement rating than a rollercoaster that looks more exciting than my Wizard's Tower. Again I'm honestly not intending to show off, I'm just pointing out on how ridiculous this game can be sometimes. I mean just look at your chain lift >>2014563 . I'm still working on my "Wizard's Tower" spiral roller coaster's scenery--(like for example a second tower, and the haunted woods), but I do believe I have reached the limit of the scenery bonus to the excitement rating.
Here I have made my roller coaster for the abandoned mine area. Ain't she a beauty /vr/? Okay fine, the stats could be better so I'll still edit some parts to tone down the nausea and intensity, like the turning slopes-(due to the inability to build them as banked turning slopes), and any other uncomfortable areas. While I was building, when I reached the 180 degree turn with the steep climb and drop at each end, I thought of making a lavafall under the turn. Any suggestions?

Well okay I couldn't find any places of the track I could fix to lower the intensity and nausea ratings, so I just went ahead and did some decorating. With the exhaust pipes near the waterfall, I used waterspouts instead of flames; although I do wish it would look like there coming out of the pipes. I also extended the water to make a little river to try and expand the excitement rating. However I do need a better name for it, so anyone got any ideas.

I read on the rct wiki http://rct.wikia.com/wiki/Excitement
that different roller coaster types will have their own unique ratings ratio. It's obvious with different train designs like the: floorless, stand-up, and inverted, but then you have roller coasters that have really similar trains from each other like the looping coaster and corkscrew coaster--without the corkscrews and half loops.

dead trees and flames around the firey areas...
maybe some abandoned looking building and shit... some buildings for the coaster to go into like when it goes underground or goes back up...

I generally dislike scenery when I build a coaster into a hillside, aside from some foliage or supports.

Anyone know how to fix crashing/not loading due to missing scenery. Even in the basic RCT2 parks it doesn't load/crashes (depending on if I'm using OpenRCT or not). I have a fresh install of both RCT2 and OpenRCT as well.

I had similar problems with scenery loading for both expansion parks and custom parks.

The expansion problems were dealt with by deleting all installations of RCT on the system, then reinstalling by CDs to D:\Program Files\RCT.
Custom scenery errors for me are entirely random, as is saving not working sometimes. They got better when I downsized to only 1 installation of the game and no RCT1 installation.

So this Halloween thing seems to be a major talking point and has got everyone actually playing the game.

When it's over, can we start on a Christmas themed one? Anyone who's not confident enough for Halloween can get a head start on that.

R8/H8 the start of my Spooktober park.

I'm creating a park with different zones with the idea of having one zone for each provided scenery theme. The trick is making these zones spooky/scary across the board.

This is the first zone I built, using mechanical theming. The theme is "Warehouse Wasteland" (see filename). I'll post a better pic of the far right building in a sec.

There's a rapids ride inside of the plant.

Stagger the whole wall this way

Also, less inconsequential pipes just sticking out of the ground, make a few go into the building from the side, Use the enclosed innertube ride for this.

Flames can be good, but give a gas leak a purpose. Maybe it blew out a wall in the back and there's a fire there.

Add fences around the perimeter and enclosing the buildings, the one surrounding the water doesn't seem like it needs to be there.

Use some rollercoaster tracks for building decoration, either as tracks on the ground for loading bays, or as piping/lining on the sides/top.

Do you ever get intimidated by how good everyone's designs here are and you look at yourself and realize that you do nothing but shit out predictable park layouts and pre-made rides to earn a quick jewbuck?

Just finished decorating Lava Drainage, but just like every other rollercoaster, their scenery are still a work in progress. I also quickly built a decent wild wooden mouse roller coaster. And it seems I can still fit another roller coaster in this abandoned mine area, maybe even two other roller coasters.
