Why am I conceiving pipe dreams of building backyard coasters? That shit is like twenty or thirty years in the future, if ever.

Still though, personally handmade little dipper woodie. Designed and bent/welded shuttle (complete with catch car system) ultra-twister with a hill and a roll. Surveyed, designed, and built innawoods terrain coaster.

Why arent I careless and affluent to do these things?

I think I got about 13.5 out of a splash boats that I exploited the fuck out of. Several successive max height drops - which, despite being absolutely terrifying and probably unconscious-rendering, yield tons of excitement - coupled with two synchronized dummies and tons of scenery. I posted it some months ago and I could swear I saved it intending to do more work on it, but I cant find the save.

So I downloaded the deluxe version of RCT1 online a few years ago before these threads but never got around to playing it. I have the original RCT1 and corkscrew folleys, but I didnt have loopy landscapes or the deluxe edition.

I remember when I played Forest Frontiers on my old computer I was able to build a lot of different rollercoasters that I'm missing in this version. I used to be able to, from my memmory:
Have Virginia Reel in forest frontiers
Have Single Rail roller coaster in forest frontiers
Have the option to make my miniature railroad covered in forest frontiers(this one is a little iffy, its been years.)

I also distinctly remember there not being tabs for what expansion you want to play, it was all in the same list. Granted it got confusing as to what was what, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I just want to play RCT1 with all of the rides in loopy landscapes, corkscrew folleys, and the original open, or at least researchable on a fairly flat park like in Forest Frontiers, just with everything usable.

Does RCT2 have a way you can do this?

Allow me to help explain this. RCT2 has a scenario creation tool. All of the RCT1 scenarios have been remade in RCT2 using this tool, although some maps cannot be duplicated perfectly.
There's also a lot of custom maps floating around, including many sandbox-type maps. Some people like to call these "workbenches."
Also, some of the remade RCT1 maps in RCT2 have rides that aren't available in their RCT1 version, such as the Virginia Reel in Forest Frontiers.

So don't exert on that chore. Loopscrews and such are fairly simple rides. The extreme coasters are with modern track designs that allow them to support more intensity. Arrow made coasters with no more than four inversions, not the 8-12 of "extreme" rides.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with getting really high excitement ratings out of coasters in RCT. I typically aim for 6-7, maybe 8-9 for a twister/giga/hyper.

i meant to say im NOT very optimistic. the bulk of the money for the games development is going towards living expenses for the developers. i really dont think it will have any thing better to offer than RCT2 but. one thing i noticed was an increased degree of track banking. but the coasters shown in their videos look no different than RCT2. so i dont know. whatever i guess it might be fun to mess around with for a while.

What i want in a new RCT game is a no limits like coaster design but with park management aspects thrown in. and of course flat rides, food stalls etc. but i want to see a shift from the cartoony aspect to a more realistic look i.e. pizza stalls not looking like slices of pizza.

i havent played no limits but ive seen some youtube stuff. if they could make a more intuitive/simple building system for beginners while still keeping advanced features for experienced players that would be awesome

Outside of paying for licenses for any prebuilt frameworks you're making the game off of (Unity, UE4, etc.) there is ZERO necessary money investment for games development. The money you're giving to the Kickstarter is to fund the man-hours necessary for the development instead of leaving the devs to be forced to do it in their off-time.

You could try the one I've been meaning to do for months but never get around to:
Make a scenario with no money and an aesthetically pleasing landscape with 5 (10?) partially completed rollercoasters that look good and mesh well with the landscape but are only missing one piece. Make sure they're almost 1 excitement short of the target when completed (for example, if the target is 7.20 try to have them around 6.40 to 6.50 when completed)

Basically, rather than building the rollercoasters the player has to make the park around them look good with scenery. The aim would be to make the best looking park and have the scenery raise the excitement to the required amount.

>> No.1975423

>>1975325
It's a fun idea... but it can be exploited by making, for instance, a train or a path and weaving it through all 5 coasters. Excitement tends to get boosted fairly little by scenery (and it has a cap) and interaction with paths/rides usually bumps it up a full point or so.

I'm working on a scenario called Flatland where I make it flat and allow no landscaping, and no high rides. Might make it a "make 5 rollercoasters" with certain specs, or just ride tickets objective or something... Would anyone enjoy playing that?

>> No.1975448

Select both stalls, start a scenario with them (just a junky one), open ParkDat, and see what the two .dat files are for the stalls. Compare that to a clean install to see which .dat you should keep (the default) and which you can delete (the one you downloaded). Only borrow as much as you need. If you have any extra after you're done, give it back to the bank. That Loan Interest can catch up to you if you're not careful.

Expanding quickly is a good idea because it raises your Park Value, and that is the #1 attraction for Guests. But don't expand too quickly, make sure everything in your Park is perfected as it is and won't cause problems if you leave it alone for a while.

I got plenty more good designs. I usually implement them into scenarios instead of uploading single tracks to the threads all the time. Over half of everything in the vpack is mine anyway. My favourite designs are the ones made to be built over a path instead of next to it, maximizing the space even more. Like this one here I managed to get a Very High excitement rating in under 20 seconds for around $6k. FYI, the track is in Wealthy Woods.

When did you guys realize that exit paths are totally unnecessary? I've been letting my guests drop gently down onto lower pathways for ages now and they don't seem to mind at all. It also helps with path congestion.

>> No.1982878

>>1982867
I stopped doing that after I got into a tight spot in Aqua Park as a kid. My big steel coaster broke down and I couldn't afford to build a path to the exit without the income it generated.

Is there something I'm missing when it comes to Ghost Town? I have 10 coasters, all over 4000 feet long and excitement over 7.00, and I've had all of them open for a few months. And they are all different types. However, the game is still going. Do I have to wait until the end of the year to complete the challenge?

Fuck me, I figured it out. I thought I made a stand up twister, but it's actually a regular twister (which I already have).

I don't want to micromanage building paths to exits when rides break down.

What is park value? What determines it? How do I raise or lower it?

I've been playing this game for forever now and I still don't know what it is.

I prefer them to the usual cobra roll. Cobra rolls feel so forced to me, while a sea serpent rolls into itself naturally, if that makes sense.

>> No.1984076

>>1984059
Yeah. That cobra rolls exit in the opposite direction works better with layouts usually, though. Unfortunate. Immelmanns, Dive Loops, and Zero g rolls are better than both, though.

It makes more sense in large loop cobra rolls, where people commonly put a track segment in there so that the bottoms of the loops arent right next to each other.

ha, i was just doing that. ive got a idea of how i want to scenery to look, but that wrecks the only reason the name and color scheme exist, and if thats the case i should do a completely different type of scenery, and i dont know what that would be. and im tired. too tired.
