Shadowgate is infamous in Japan and considered kusoge. It was already balls hard and unfair, but the Japanese translation is awkward, and for some reason changed everything to an enthusiastic first person instead of the original second person text, which makes a lot of stuff sound really fucking dumb. i.e. "You decide to end your life" turned into "I STAB MYSELF WITH MY SWORD! AIIEEE! I CRY OUT!"
