I really wish there was another wonderboy in monsterland style game, I liked the linear platformer style with the exploring elements. It was fun finding all the hidden gold. I do love wonderboy 3 but it is definitely on the easy side. Beating the mechadragon was also a pretty big accomplishment cause his castle was such a bitch, it's not too bad though I found my way through without a guide or the bell. I also found the hidden stores and bosses myself, figured out how to fight some bosses twice for extra cash. I just had a ton of fun with that game because I learned something new every time I played. I would make it a bit further and find more stuff each time, first making it to mecha dragons castle, then making it with all the legendary gear. Does anyone know of any games similar to the first monsterland game?

I really dont understand why SEGA doesnt bring this back now that Metroidvanias are totally hip and hot.

Try the fan game...it's a lot harder, but also extremely more frustrating. Also, im pretty sure you can say it has some quite evident bad design, but over all is fun.

The first two are the same game, albeit released in different systems. I recommend you to play the first one.

The third is Wonder Boy in Monster Land and is for Sega Genesis, also it is one of the best Wonder Boy games IMO.

I liked it but I believe a lot of people didn't. However It hasn't aged as well as Dune 2000 due to the 3D graphics. But if you like Dune give it a try.
