One of your entrances still has the black sand.
Those zones are nice, take a look at the RCT1 park "Magic Quarters" for something similar if you need inspiration.
Rolling hills are nice, but move them back a little from the main paths, that way we won't have to flatten them to add stalls and whatnot. That looks like a pretty small park.

I've never done any of those before, the map size and regions are just random.
No Idea if this could work out for that at all, it's basically just for practice with the editor. I'm very interested in all the different tricks and hacks I've seen anons do with the scenery objects.
But if improves as I work on it, I'd be happy to share it.

Thanks.
It is a very small park, I'm basically not
thinking that much about how it would actually function as an active park.
But I guess I'll give it a try if it works out well, I could try utilizing a bit of height and making crossover walkways between the zones.

Lots of lost peeps, (or they are just static scenery) and tons of peeps bunched up in popular areas, like around the shooting star.

i have always assumed that a lot of the parks on nedesigns have terrible park ratings, just because the game AI cant work with such intricate pathing and stuff. that being said, fuck the park rating. im always amazed at what beautiful stuff people make in RCT.

>Why is it called "World"? I'm glad you asked! You can create your amusement park on a plot that's connected (by monorail of course) to three other plots. These can be inhabited by your friends' parks or people you meet online to create a multiplayer massive theme park. But before you cry all SimCity on me, Kennedy was quick to point out how Roller Coaster Tycoon World will be different from EA's game.

>"You don't have to play with anyone if you don't want to," Kennedy said. "And there will be an offline mode." You can save up enough money to buy the other plots and build your own huge park completely on your own. But if you do choose to play online with people, the option is there.

Offline confirmed, but these 3 plots of land, pre conected so does that mean transportation rides are out?

Still haven't planted trees in the mountains, and the rivers could be made to look more natural, but I don't know how.
Thinking about making little villages or hovels around the fortress for the stalls, and then building the rides around those.

what really helped me git gud at compact coasters was to go into the coaster designer mode, place down a few prebulits that i liked a lot, and then build my own coaster right next to it, copying elements that i liked and trying to match the overall look.

after awhile, as others said, you just start to "know" what you want and you can make some really cool compact stuff.

this was the first compact woody i was happy with the looks, and also the first coaster where i got a hang of block sections.

When I first started RCT2, I felt flabbergasted because of all the new rides and sceneries. Even the beginner scenarios seemed way too expansive for me, so I dropped it pretty soon.
But now that I've gotten into it again, it's like you find a zen moment. I admit until now, I've focused on trying to make the scenery look good, but when you get satisfied with that, you'll feel an urge to build rollercoasters around your scenery.
I'll post screen when I get on with this japanese theme park. I've added all the trees, but I can't really tell if they look like shit or not.

Can you give me:
- A screenshot / list / whatever of the files that could not be played (or even just one example of a file that doesn't play)
- What media player you use
It would be helpful. I use Foobar2000 but either VLC or Foobar should be able to play every file.

>What is the format of the music?
Wave, 22050 Hz, 2 channels, 8 bits per sample, 352 kbps (for the carousel music I am going by), PCM

Looks like everything but the carousel music was updated for RCT2 to be 16 bits per sample, thus doubling the bitrate.

FLAC is basically designed as a drop-in replacement for Wave, so there shouldn't be any issues.

BTW, the reason I'm so autistic about performance is I'd like an old game like [Open]RCT2 to open and fully load in less than a second. That way it would be faster to open a park than loading a lossless PNG from New Element Designs.

Sure, maybe. But you can't (shouldn't) go from WAV directly to Ogg. You would want a lossless, future-proof format in-between. And since the lossless music isn't that big anyway and the bitrates are total shit, I'll keep it lossless. I'm not a FLACfag, it's just for this album.

>Bigger files
That would be counter-intuitive, unless the bigger files had some benefit.

Even if OpenRCT2 never uses FLAC, the files are tagged in a way that the Waves never were. People always mention how much they like the carousel music, so why not give it to them in a way that actually has the name of the song they're listening to?

Clearly people want music. Just look at the OP.

SFMM is a definite one; I'd say Disneyland as well, but you can substitute it for Magic Kingdom in Florida. Cedar Point and the other 2 big SF parks are recommended, at least for their coaster content. I'd also stop by either one of the three here: Herhseypark, Dorney Park, or Knoebels. Personally, I'd lean towards Hershey since there are more coasters, but Knoebels has Phoenix and Flying Turns.

Further south you have King's Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Carowinds. KD has Intimidator 305 as its centerpiece, in addition to some other stellar rides in Dominator and Grizzly, as well as having some more unique rides such as Avalanche (the only Mack bobsled coaster in the US), Shockwave (the only Togo standup operating in the US), and Woodstock Express (a surprisingly good compact wooden coaster). Carowinds is getting Fury 325 built as well, so there's that.

Florida has Busch Gardens Tampa, Disneyworld, and Universal Studios; all of which are great parks.

I've only been to Disneyworld, and while the coaster selection isn't great, it's still fucking Disneyworld; you will have fun. That said it is pricey.

Towards the northern part of the east coast you have Luna Park (Coney Island), which I think is a must see since it's fucking Coney Island. Plus, the Cyclone is getting retracked - which means it won't try to kill you (as much).

Lake Compounce up in Connecticut is another good park; I plan to head there next summer to check out Boulder Dash and Wildcat. Truth be told, there isn't much in New England aside from Lake Compounce, Canobie Lake Park, SFNE, and Quassy, but they're all charming in their own ways, and SFNE has some great rides. The weakest of the four here though I think is SFNE, since it isn't one of Six Flags' main parks. It does have Bizarro and Wicked Cyclone however. Of the parks in New England, I suggest going to Lake Compounce and SFNE.

One more thing; don't forget about Six Flags' other big park (really, big 4), Six Flags over Texas. That, and you have the coasters in Vegas (though I'd skip Manhattan Express) and Lagoon in Utah.

>> No.1927178

>>1927149
Definitely; I would love to go to Japan and visit their non-Disney or Universal parks (at least, those wouldn't be my priority) just to ride some jet coasters. Nagashima Spa Land looks to be a great starting place, since it's essentially "Cedar Point: The Japanese Version," but some other parks as well like Nasu Highland or Mitsui Greenland.

That said, the US is the mecca of amusement parks; even with China putting up a shitton of parks at least we have a bunch classic ones like Kennywood, Knoebels, Lake Compounce, and Luna Park as well as the Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Busch, and Disney parks.

>> No.1930612

>>1930548

Sorry, should have looked at the image properly.

Those small differences in G-forces (less than, say, 0.03) are totally normal, probably due to rounding errors or something (though I like the wind explanation). In any case, peeps have randomised weights, so there'll always be variations when people actually ride, so the precise values aren't worth worried about.

The differences in ride time and making it around are weirder. How close was the original coaster to making it over the loop? If it was only just making it, then it might be just random. Otherwise, are you sure they were identical in every way? (Including things like number of cars per train, which makes a big difference)

Ride times can be weird since RCT doesn't track time very well, what the game calls a 'second' can be different lengths of time on different machines, even though the game doesn't run faster or slower.

The ride is currently undergoing refurbishment. They reinstalled the bird animatronic effect and they've set up scaffolding on the back of the mountain.

seriously, I don't care if I end up making more money off of ride fees than park entry, ride fees is stupid as fuck and the fact that there's no option to charge for admission in RCT 2 is stupid as hell, especially when you play an imported RCT 1 scenario that originally had park admission and it's suddenly ride fee

When you get to Options menu of Scenario creation, click park. 3rd line down there is a tab that says "Free Park/Pay Rides" you click it and then you select the other option, which should say "Pay for Park/Free Rides". Then you click that and you save the fucking scenario.

Disney is an a completely different category (for me at least) and even with all the nostalgia SF over Texas has for me, Cedar Point is probably my favorite. The one time I went was an absolute blast. Does Top Thrill work more than twice a day now?
