>"I am very sorry, but my husband changed his mind and is no longer selling his games. He said he will do the extra work and sell them on ebay instead, after he found out how much I was selling them for. I guess I didn't know their value. I am very sorry."

Never go out to buy anything that costs more than $40 or so without backup. Also, if you see someone trying to sell something that's worth a LOT for FUCKING NOTHING, it's either a sting, stolen, or you're about to get robbed and/or killed (then robbed).

Always meet in a well-lit, public, and heavily traveled place (like McDonalds or WalMart) in broad daylight.

If you can, always be armed, too. Better to have and not need.

You usually need to call in and get an order to change things like that. They are selling symmetric speeds as default now, but if you have an old plan, they keep you o that until you change it. Your channel package might explode too.

>> No.1880585

It is a tough call. While the woman would be making less than she could elsewhere, that is what she asked for them (though this whole thing reeks of BS). Since we are judging value on what she can get for them and ebay is where she could get the most, wouldn't asking anything below ebay Sold Items average value minus fees and some small amount for convenience be ripping her off, albeit to a lesser degree? It wasn't like he lied and tried to convince her that what she had was junk. People who try to haggle a $100 game that they find for sale for $20 down to $10 are the real scammers.

Once some leisure good goes out of print, the only real value is how much the seller can get from the buyers they are willing to find. If that was all the effort she would put into finding a buyer and she was happy with $1 a piece, then the buyer did nothing wrong. Would it have been nice to inform her? Yes, but in the end more educated sellers just leads to the perpetualization of reseller scum prices.

Most time I do it, they're happy I let them know and take the offer. Granted I'd never do that unless its in person. If the deal is going down in person, I'd never negotiate through email/text/phone/etc.

Also, I use something like "worth more than that to ME". That way you're only implying you put more value on it, not that it has some intrinsic value that makes it with more to everyone.

I've actually had people not care about something being worth more and be like "meh, I had it for $4 so that's what I'm selling it for" and not take more money.

I like those people, not because they're dumb, but because they have the integrity to stick by the original deal. Like when you're at a yard sale getting ready to buy something and some dick nozzle butts in and tries to offer more to the person running the sale, but the seller doesn't bite.

Serious jewfag collector here. I was 100% sure you were being trolled until I saw these pics. It's amazing that there are troves like this out there. Here are some tips.

Say that you weren't sure or not if this was legit and you wanted to see everything in person, inspect the merchandise for condition and even authenticity before you even were seriously discussing price.

Once you've seen it in person, while not having your whole budget on you, try to get them to set a price for the entire lot. People will often be ashamed to ask for a thousand dollars or more for something they only recently thought was relatively worthless

Gauge the way they phrase their price for how negotiable they are. This is one of many reasons to negotiate in person, to read their cues. Also, when and if they set the price too low you can snap them up right that second, but don't seem too eager because that will set off THEIR jew-sense.

In general, never seem too eager. I certainly hope you weren't the one who suggested the $1 price point but even if it was her, your response should have been more alomg the lines of "Yeah that seems reasonable but I'd like to take a look at them in person if that's okay" and got an address and showed up.

good stuff.
However she will be telling me the new price via e mail.
The wife is super motivated to sell, she contacted me and gave me the $1 price. As far as being eager I think I played it smooth. I did come off disappointed that she was no longer selling them, but always ended with something like "i would have loved to add these to my collection" Never hinting at selling them (mainly because I don't play on selling them but you see what I'm doing.)

Don't be disappointed because that makes it seem like you're giving up. Just always have a positive attitude and constantly move toward going in person, without seeming suspicious or threatening or anything. Also, don't respond to email prices just keep repeating that you need to see them in person since it might be a scam or worse and the sooner you can eliminate that possibility, the better for all involved. Make sure to bring a ton of cash with you but leave 90% of it hidden in your car.

If I were you, I'd bring a $100 bill and see if she'll take that. If she mentions eBay, say that they take 15% in fees and that she will have to ship them all and you can just pay her now. I would only go up to $200 if she wouldn't absolutely budge at all. Increase to $150 and say that's your budget for games or something and that you'd "love to have them" and that you'll have a lot of fun playing them even though you're a slimy shit and are going to sell them for hundreds more.

Well she wanted 100 a game after her husband shot down our prior agreement.
I didn't accept, but invested told her I wanted to meet, we did. Her husband wasn't with her but she called him like 3 times. Anyway he finally caved when I told him I had $500 in cash. I started at 200 or something, don't remember, he declined so I suggested 250, also declined, I offered 350 final offer and he declined. So my friend I was with shut down the deal, before we completely shut it down I ask how much did he want for the whole package, she didn't get an answer. I said I only came with 500 (which was a lie) and said I was able to do 500 because she had the system and controllers. That's when they finally caved. Not a great story but ehhh. 90% of everything is in like 9/10 condition, all have manuals besides 2, 1 of which is a conversion. Also, that stack of twenties waving under her nose was too much for her to walk away from. online pricelists have pretty much ruined the hobby

before you could just haggle with people who didnt want their old "trash" anymore

now even Goodwill won't sell NES games below the price of the most generous pricelists, so a copy of Final Fantasy will just rot on their shelf in a dark corner of Columbus, Ohio because the local shoppers won't pay $35 for what they see as old trash

But it's cool because somewhere in the USA, somebody will. Just not somebody in Columbus, Ohio who shops at that Goodwill

this, really
I mean, ebay is amazing from a convenience perspective, but that kind of convenience tends to just wreck prices. People can search online for 'rare' games instead of having to actually exert effort. Aside from that, there are more people now interested in buying now compared to previous times, which just makes it even worse when talking about prices.
