I don't think there is much strategy involved. You just have to read your information carefully.
A bit of luck is involved as well. In this example there are four mines left but I only have hints for three so I took a gamble that the left hints are all for one mine and the fourth mine is hidden somewhere else.

thats just bad RNG, but other than that, there are a lot of strategies involved, like the common every-corner strat, and the corner1-2 pattern. Things like that.

Those aren't much of a strategy.

they lead to a faster time, how are they not strategies?

>> No.1899228

Because they are common sense or just a way of guessing.
Do you have any facts to back up the claim that they bring "faster times"?

>common sense to know every pattern in minesweeper and the outcome without analyzing

And no facts, but does that mean you are just going to be a dick and not contribute to strats?

git gud
dont be dumb

I remember my beginner record being 4 seconds on the classic Minesweeper they always gave with the older Windows versions.
Expert was 96 seconds I think.

Suck on that OP you fucking faggot.

It's natural to know the patterns after playing for a while. There's no point in studying strategy guides instead of actually playing.

That makes it even worse.

One 11-y-o day I sat down and calculated the probabilities for each square, given exposed squares. Then I just memorized them and prioritized revealing squares by lowest probability (which ends up being around 1's and blanks, a method which creates more blanks quickly).

>thats just bad RNG

No it isn't. "Bad RNG" is RNG whose behavior is so far from random that it influences the game. What that post is describing is an inherent condition of the rules of Minesweeper.

How would the probabilities look for >>1899204?
Would you have taken the chance with the 5 since the squares have a probability of 1/3?
