Not natively. It has some weird moments.
For instance, the ice monsters that were tougher in normal Doom are wimpy in Hideous Destructor.
Also, the exit of Map01 is supposed to injure you, but with HD on it actually kills you and throws an error. I had to IDCLEV into the next level.

I honestly think ALL of Gregor's models were made at the same time--Mastermind, Archvile, Revenants and Mancubus. Then the last three were held back for the Doom 2 roster. In the released original Doom executables, there is dummy code and placeholders for these enemies, showing that they were at least being worked on during Doom 1's development.

if you compare the Archvile latex model and then the sprite's head, it's clear that the head has been modified to remove the spikes Gregor added to the model, to make it closer resemble Adrian's original drawing. Regardless, all versions of the Archie have the distinctive " wires" around the jaw, bald head and beady eyes.

Someone will bring up that Romero originally said it was a different demon design but there's the possibility that he was either wrong, or Adrian's drawing wasn't originally intended for the Archvile, but something else that didn't happen.

Glad you like it. All the placeholder sprites are really grating on me, too. I've been trying my hand at making the player sprite, and it's certainly harder than it looks. Mike took his own hand at it (pic related) but an entire set of player sprites is basically murder and a half, so I figured I'd save the trouble and try it myself.
It'll be worth it once it's done and ready, though.

It'll still be a lever-action shotgun because that's really the only way I can feasibly imagine a short single-handed shotgun to work. And lever-actions are awesome.
Problem being that since the animation is intricate, that's a lot of work to do. So in case Mike suffers a broken wrist or gets bored or something, I've been looking for viable alternatives.

Sure, I could just make it a revolver that loads buckshot, like the Judge, but half the fun of shotguns is the action in between firing.

You could do what DMC did with it's shotgun.

It has two magazines underneath it so that way all you have to do to reload the shotgun is to use the break action to eject shells, closing it would load it with more shells.
Totally made for one hand.

Would probably be easier to animate that instead of twirlycocking it too.

That's not really what I was thinking about.

I was just thinking of one handed shotgun designs.

Shotguns with magazines would basically be made for one handed wielding.
Could also do the Judge revolver thing like he mentioned earlier, or even just have a quick shotgun reload since the sword goes offscreen when firing the gun.
That would mess up the firing rate unless it's like Blood's shotgun though.
But then again Caleb had both hands free for it.

Magazines and break-action...that's a clever idea.
While I'm kind of loathe to add any more DMC similarity lest people think I'm intentionally stylizing the mod after a series I only played one game in, it's a very quick, efficient, and simple solution. It's not as cool as lever-action but beggars can't be choosers.

How about the chaingun replacement be an Obrez type hand rifle? A high kick back gun that could launch enemys backwards and do lods of damage, but have impossible to handle recoil and very slow fire rate? I don't know of any manufacturer who made a live firing replica of one, but it's certainly not impossible.

The actual prop from Bladerunner was a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special revolver in a sort of get-up made from a Steyr Mannlicher bolt-action rifle, among other things.

One could certainly track down a Charter Arms Bulldog and then dress it up with Steyr parts (along with other bits and bobs) to create a live firing replica, but if any maker wanted to hawk a cheap .22 replica, it would honestly make more sense to just make a plastic and/or zinc/aluminum case/frame to go over a little blowback gun inside of it.

It's a pump action shotgun.

The pump-slide needs to be moved all the way back, to move the bolt out of battery, extracting and ejecting any shell that was in the chamber (fired or not), and then cock the hammer.

It must then be moved all the way forward to pick up the next shell from the magazine, putting it in the chamber and then closing the breech, making it ready to fire.

This must be done manually, and if you don't move the pump all the way back, and then move it back forward again, it won't pick up the next shell, and thus have an empty chamber. This is called short-chucking, or short-stoking, and can happen to any gun, regardless of how advanced. If the bolt doesn't go all the way back so that it can reach the next round from the magazine, and is then overcome by spring pressure (in the case of an automatic), or the user bringing the gun back into battery too soon (in the case of a manual repeater like a pump-gun or bolt-action gun). In the case of automatics, it can be because of faulty ammunition, dirt buildup, mechanical malfunction or wear.

Scythe 1 and 2 are pretty fun but some of the later levels are too much. Not that they are bad but less is more. 1 or 2 extreme levels with hundreds of enemies is fine. So I am playing Demonsteele and I feel the back slash special needs to be weakened or completely overhauled.

I don't even use the forward or spinslashes anymore because they feel kind of redundant.
The pushback on back slash just annihilates hordes for two bars and it trumps forward slash in all ways due to more area coverage and damage.
It doesn't even have to be aimed at them, the pushback radius is huge.

Only thing it can't do is hurt Cyberdemons and Masterminds, but you're left with so much meter saved from not using the other slashes that you can just spam forward specials when those guys do show up.

So I loaded it up with Sunder and went straight to the Hag's Finger(Best slaughtermap and the only one I tolerate)

Without the pushback of the old version it no longer invalidates hordes of enemies and the projectiles they shoot.

It doesn't seem to instantly kill Hellknights and stronger at the ranges I use it.
I do not feel this is a bad thing.

Also it feels like Archviles flinch but don't get hurt by it much if at all.
Forward slashes annihilate them though.

The constant Splatterhouse head popping off sound is satisfying and it kind of reminds me of God Hand's Head Slicer.

I also have to aim the wave to use it defensively since it doesn't have that large pushback radius anymore.

I like this version of the special much more and it's way more balanced.

Doesn't matter how many sound channels you use. Weapon and item pickup sounds share the same one channel and will always cut each other off. The start of e1m1 is a good place to test this. Kill the two blokes on the raised platform and run to the green armor. The shotgun pickup sounds will be clipped short by the armor pickups. I find this so incredibly irritating, but apparently none of the source port devs share my autism.

Yeah, I'll give you that one, though I find that the burst fire's recoil is pretty much uncontrollable on the move unlike the shotgun. If you don't have fire/altfire set to mouse1/mouse2, you should. Then operating it is as simple as alternating left and right mouse clicks. The ZM66 has jammed on me far more than the shotgun ever has, but I almost never use the semi-auto function. When it does, I just manually pump it and it works fine.

I DID play the original Doom and Doom II in vanilla mode, and hell it was great. But Brutal Doom adds strategic approach to the (already) fast-paced gameplay.
And I love the gore, its extremely violent, just like the Doom comic (and yes, I DO know the comic is an excaggeration).

There's no way to make a patch that would make Brutal Doom compatible with other gameplay mods.

The monsters are custom, the weapons are custom.

You can remove weapons but then enemies won't die as you're used to without editing another weapon set.

You can remove monsters but then you'd find that lots of things are not really working properly without it.

Did you know blood spatters cause vanilla monsters to flinch even if they do no damage?
Because they are set up to cause flinches.
Things like that.

You have to take Brutal Doom as is and it has to stand on it's own.
It changes too much.

Obligatory suggestions are Alien Vendetta, Icarus: Alien Vanguard, Epic 1 and 2, Memento Mori 1 and 2, Back To Saturn Ecks, Requiem, Demonfear, Zones of Fear and TVR! (The Revolution). 1994 Tune-Up is also worth a shot.
If you want something atmospheric try Sacrament, Arcadia Demake, Monster Hunter Ltd., Unloved, Cold as Hell. Winter's Fury is cool as well.
If you want hordes of monsters try slaughterwads by Alexander "Eternal" S. because they're fairly easy compared to something like Slaughterfest201X series (sf2011 also bundled with .bex patches that ease gameplay a little if it's too hard) or Eternal Slaughter Party (which is compilation of maps by TimeofDeath, search him on /idgames for more) or even maps by Phml. If you're masochist search for "erlywads" on /idgames and play all of 'em.

Is it possible to make the motorcycle turn with mouselook so we can use sidestep buttons to whip the tail of motorcycle; leaning to side to dodge projectiles (think it as crouching) and taking the sharp turns better?
For example; when I have to take a sharp turn to the left, I hold down the right sidestep button to whip the tail to the right and lean to the left to have a better turn control. Is it possible remotely?

Flashes? That's strange. The only two things I could think of why that's happening is your computer is having trouble doing the transitions in the header (where the quote fades in and out) Or it's having trouble painting the fixed background thing behind it.

Either way, I could try a quick fix and you can let me know if it's changed. If you can disable JavaScript, try doing that and seeing if it fixes it. (That should disable the transition, so we'll know if that's the problem or not.)

Yeah, I played the second version, and it's still not really that great.
There's not really a way where you can just lightly turn bit by bit (since turning jerks quite a bit at first), or consistently stay at a place where you can turn bit by bit (since holding down turning speeds up the turning), or instantly hit a swerve for a sudden direction change (since the brake turn isn't that hot).

As has been said before tons of times, it's a good attempt and is probably the most advanced thing there is for a "vehicle", but overall it's really clunky and more a "look what I did" than anything viable for gameplay.

Demonsteele dev(s): I play primarily with a controller, which makes Iron Maiden mode physically impossible. Could you maybe make it so that in addition to the current key combination, it would also work with nextweapon+prevweapon+both attacks?

Also, this is more of a minor nitpick, but could the special moves have the option of dedicated keybindings to prevent the character from moving in the direction of the special command? It's all too easy to fall off a ledge when you're winding up the side or back specials.

You don't really need the frontend if you're only loading HDoom.

First, make sure you have the Doom 2 game files. It should be something like doom2.wad.
Stick that in the same folder as your Zandronum executable.

Second, download HDoom. You should have a .pk3 file from the download of HDoom. Drag and drop that onto the Zandronum executable.

Not the guy from above, but I tried out HDoom after seeing a .webm of it in another thread. Thought it'd just be a quick laugh, but something about it interested me. The long range hitscan enemies were removed and replaced with projectile enemies, which made for more dynamic clashes. It wasn't perfect since enemies that were ready for sex would block your movement, and so dodging projectiles became problematic in some areas. Are there any mods or level packs that focus on this projectile attack gameplay?
