The thing is tho, I make good money, I have a kid and a wife. I don't but new games anymore, and I get way more mileage out of classic games than I do new ones. Even though he wasn't an NES guy, Legacy of the Wizard sounds absolutely beautiful. I also heard on NESDev that the Kira people were attempting to get a hold of Jake 'Virt' Kaufman. Everyone keeps making 'love letters' and 'tributes' to the NES in the shape of faux retro games, but Kira is shaping up to be THE ultimate love letter to the console, as it actually is developed for it. Now if only Nintendo was loved this much nowadays in the home console market.

Relatively, you can get by with minimal knowledge and a dictionary since most FC RPGs don't use kanji. Even picking them up for the music would be fine. Since you seem to have a good few Konami games in your library (assuming it's you who posted earlier), maybe pick up Lagrange Point, too.
