Itt comfy retro games.

I dare you to find me a comfier retro game than Zelda LA. Is there anything comfier than this (including DX, you smart faggot)? Seriously. Curled up in bed under the blankets, hot cup of cocoa next to you, bedside lamp on, playing some Zelda LA before sleeping. There probably is nothing comfier in life come to think of it.

I have to admit, I agree with everything you have said, and that is hard to see on 4chan. I might just pull that game out of the drawer and give it a new go.

>> No.1876837

Really hard to disagree with you. It's a pretty chill game where you don't get harried very often. I'd also like to nominate the Harvest Moon games. I always found hanging out in a recliner and farming digital potatoes to be pretty relaxing for some reason.

I replayed it again recently on my old brick Game Boy, I finished my very first file from when I first got the game in like 1995 (I had finished it before but on different files, I had abandoned the original, first one, which was up to about the 4th dungeon).

Enjoyed the fuck out of it again, it's still my favorite Zelda game, in part due to nostalgia, and in part due to really good design and atmosphere.

I think SimCity for the Super Nintendo is really comfy.

Half the time you just sit and watch your city grow as music plays and the seasons change. I love playing it during winter when its cold and grey out.

However, just sitting and watching the game go through its motions rather than actively playing for most of the time might be a turn off for some people.

Aivi and Surassahu - The Black Box (album)

It's a very jazzy album. But a beautiful rendition of this song.

It also has Lonely Rolling Star. Speaking of which, Katamari is an extremely comfy game.

Hey, I hope you guys have a great day tomorrow! I know it's random but I hope you absolutely do something you find fun and fulfilling. And tonight you get a nice comfy sleep.

It's modern, but I'm finding Etrian Odyssey 4 to be comfy.

That is still the best Zelda game, in my opinion. It plays so smooth, and you never need to think about camera angles.

No and no. It's fucking summer. More like no blankets and a cool glass of lemonade.

Fuck no, there goes my comfy black level to glare. Unless you meant on the original gameboy or GBC. In which case, holy shit definitely not comfortable with that hunch back motherfucking neck shit or elbows on a desk on that tiny shit with uncomfortable hand positioning. Being in bed, definitely not while playing shit - also definitely not with any fucking drinks near my fucking bed - that's shitslap territory.

>playing some Zelda LA before sleeping.
Everything I do during the day is before sleeping. If you mean as I'm tired, that isn't comfortable. If I'm tired I want to fucking go to sleep not play a game.

Marin is overrated. You hold her over your head and that's really about where it ends.
The music is okay. The sound effects are okay.
The atmosphere is dependent on where you are but it's a bit too peppy for my tastes. Also the animal village shit is retarded. Trade quests are not comfy.

It's a decent enough game, best Zelda on the Gameboy outright and one of the best Gameboy games. I wouldn't really rate it as a comfy game though.

So make the most of life while you're still healthy son. That's the whole idea. Why are you already focusing on death? You're only a third of your way through life.

Also life doesn't have to be terrible when you're old. My dad's old but he's wealthy and satisfied. He's made a life for himself. I'm getting married in a few months and I look forward to finally getting him some grandkids. It actually makes me understand what life is about - at least for me. You want to work hard and set your balance so that when you're old you can be content with yourself and how things turned out. There's a few keys to this I believe:

>wealth (you don't have to be rich but you have to be in a position where you don't have to depend on anyone else and still be very comfortable)
>a significant other (alone in old age is a terrible thing. most guys need an SO to love but hey if you can pull a Hugh Hefner go for it)
>a loving family with kids that you've raised well and can stand on their own two feet and are successful
>good health (as healthy as you can be even as you age. exercise, eat right, etc)

These aren't all easy to obtain, no doubt. You have to work hard for them but what else are you gonna do with your time? Better than dying an old and bitter man looking back at a life of regret.

Of course life is different for everyone and people will have different answers to their existential crises but at least I finally have an idea of where I'd like my life to end up. Yeah it's "boring" in a sense but the bottom line is it's contentment and it's comfy.

Personally, I prefer Dragon Warrior/Quest games as far as "comfy" goes. But then they're the only series that ever gave me comfy feels.

I fucking got all nostalgic the FIRST time I played DQVIII (not retro, who cares...) and the same with DWVII. It's the only series that I ever played where I just started a game I'd never even watched a video of before abd BAM. I'm right at home, comfy, nostalgia'd to fucking death. AAA, 10/10 series.

Zelda LA was fun and all, but it's too... I don't know, man. It's just too engaging for me to be comfy with. Like, when I play DQ, I feel at ease and nothing really "gets me going". When I play any Zelda (LA included) I'm sort of on edge and constantly thinking things through. I literally can't get comfy.

I bet it's different when you've beaten the game 100+ times, but I haven't.

On that note, the first 7 Resident Evil games (1, DC, 2, 3, CV/X, REmake and Zero) and the first Dino Crisis games (witch are effectively part of the RE series in gameplay terms) are kind of comfy for me, as I know where to go and what to do at any random point in time in all of them. So it's pretty relaxing for me to just play one of them and fuck around.

Gen 1 and 2 had this melancholy feel that I think they lost in the later gens. A lot of it has to do with the music, which was much more subdued and not as upbeat and pop-y as the later games were.

You're right, its ridiculous to engage in a discussion with people on a subject that one finds interesting.

They had twice.
Because they were two games.

Get it?

I loved how it was one of the darkest/saddest Zelda games yet the most lighthearted at the same time. While you end up murdering everyone at the end and that Face Shrine music sounds really dark, even for a Zelda dungeon, there's so many silly moments that you can't help but laugh at.

Harvest Moon SNES. Waking up on a winter morning with the fireplace on and that music in the background always gets me comfy. Even moreso when you have the house fully extended.
