The PS2 may have remained somewhat popular and in production for quite a long time, but that doesn't change the fact that it was launched quite a long time ago. Insomniac did achievements right with Skill Points in the Spyro/Ratchet games. Are you sure? Because I'm pretty sure you can't get stuck anywhere except right before Mother Brain. That leads me to think they at least took in to consideration that sequence breaking was a thing.

Honestly, I kinda hope that gen6 never gets declared /vr/etro.

Think about it, all of these games would be fair game for discussion on /vr/:

Halo (1 and 2 only, but still)
Call of Duty
The 3D GTA games
God of War
Battlefield
Devil May Cry
A zillion DBZ and Naruto games

Do you really want people who play those games on /vr/?

I'm against it because its not retro.

Retro isn't judged by years for me, its an age, a different time.

I considered the 50's retro in the 20's but I wouldn't consider 20's retro in 2050.

I think even putting the Dreamcast as retro was a mistake.

I really hate achievements in modern games. I want to have the option to turn them off. I don't give a fuck about earning them, and whenever I see the achievement popup window, it immediately takes me out of the game and ruins any immersion I may have had.

My problem with them is it gives me the nagging feeling that I'm not playing properly, and I miss an achievement opportunity, I fucked up and should reroll.

What bothers me about them is that I have a profile with hundreds of games all with 1-5% completion rates.

I know that on the xbox you can delete empty achievement titles, but Playstation didn't even make trophies mandatory until well into it's life cycle.

It should be trivial to make the script for either Bizhawk(which uses bsnes as its core) or snes9x-rr, which is a version of snes9x that supports Lua scripting. If I'm not mistaken their scripting capabilities are the same and they share a lot of the same function names.
