what game has been ported the most times? Doom?

>> No.1792031

Yeah, probably Doom.
There's even been IRL Paintball versions.

>> No.1792036

Either Tetris or Pong.
Doom requires a bit too much resources to run on something like a Commodore Pet. But Tetris runs just fine on it. Hell, there's even Tetris for various calculators.
I've even played Tetris on a DTV receiver.

>> No.1792042

>>1792036
Does Tetris really count though? The basic game is on everything, yes, but they're often different versions, where Doom is the same game just on different platforms. I figure I've seen the exact same Doom on an iPod that I've seen on a PC, and that's not something you can really say about Tetris.

That's a given when the game predominantly relied on LD video. I guess the question is what defines a port.
Simple games like Tetris or Pong have a lot of clones but not many licensed releases. Doom has a lot of source ports that make it hard to count.

Are you fucking kidding me? The USB is far from being phased out. The big and new consoles feature it like its breaking edge, computer companies don't even put PS/2 ports on a fucking computer any more because they expect you to use all the membrane USB keyboards and mouses on the market, which do not come with PS/2 male ports. I am still surprised that VGA is still embedded in many stock computers anymore given the buzzword fueled HDMI among other big name plugs boasting better performance clouding the market right now.

There are plans in the works for USB 3.1 to adopt a new type of connector (USB Type-C) that will replace the USB and Micro USB. It will be smaller, it will be reversable, and it will not be backwards compatible with the old formats.

It is, for consoles. Shitty proprietary interfaces have been standard for how many years?

It's good that they're stepping up and actually getting up to date with computer technology instead of being shit tier platforms. The newest generation of consoles are basically PCs now.

>computer companies don't even put PS/2 ports on a fucking computer any more

What the fuck? I can't imagine going out to buy a good motherboard and seeing that it doesn't have a PS/2 connector. Maybe in those shitty generic prebuilts they sell to random people.
