What do you think of indie "retro style" games?

for indie dev retro means 8bit, i prefer 16bit sprites like Metal Slug and shit

they are just lazy to sprite a 16bit chars and objects

The range of retro visuals is a lot more diverse than many shitposters think.

So are indie game developers. Blatant /v/ shitpost pic.

Stuff like Shovel Knight is cool. A consistent aesthetic somewhere between 8 and 16 bit styles of sprites and backgrounds. In fact, consistency is what's really important (behind gameplay, of course).

I don't think the creator of Gravitation chose that style in order to imitate retro games. I imagine it was more intended just to not have the audiovisuals distract from the story implemented in the mechanics.
That sounded wanky as hell, didn't it?
