What's a good overpowered enemy wad besides like nuts? I downloaded Russian Overkill for shits and giggles the other day, and it's hilarious and all. But after the first 5 minutes it loses the magic. Setzer's SPC soundfont. It's very bad.

There is also GenesiSF to do the Genesis sound. It's pretty farty but succeeds at it's goal better than Setzer's.

There is also a Regression soundfont you can find that sounds amusingly 8-bit in the YouTube videos but when you play any actual video in it it kind of sounds like a Casio keyboard throwing up into a paper shredder.

Eriance cancelled it like 2 years ago or something but then uncancelled it when everyone whined, because we assumed that if he cancelled the project it meant he wouldn't be doing all the sprites for it, which is all anyone wants the project for anyway, so he put it back in extended longform Mordeth production which means it'll never be fucking finished, but every year or so he'll do another 2-3 monsters for it and redo all the fucking guns (again)

IMO he should have the decency to pick up and leave like NMN

Quake only has two bosses, and they can't be killed with conventional weaponry.

The first is a giant lava demon in a lava pit; to kill him you need to press 2 or 3 switches in a row to bring down a lightning rod thing which shocks him. Do it a few times to win.

The last is the final boss, Shub-Niggurath, and the only way to kill her is by telefragging into her. Unlike the other boss, this is actually pretty easily translatable to Doom.

As the other anon said, PSX Doom did this, but you can also do it with some quick DECORATE and some randomizers. It'll never be perfect, and you'll probably need to tweak it a bunch to get it to work to your liking, but it's possible.

But then...well, you know what happened. It literally killed a source-port's multiplayer scene; the creator fled from the community (probably to Acapulco or some shit) and all we have now is a huge shadow of its former self

I love Doom, and can even appreciate Doom 3 for what it is even if it's rather drab and boring, but I've only finished Doom 1 Episode 1 on Ultra-Violence and Doom 3 on Veteran. I read the FAQ, but I still want to hear individual opinions.

I think Brutal Doom is ok, but some weapons are overpowered, the bosses run too fast and die too fast.
The chainsaw is ridiculous because of all the blood, same goes for the other weapons.
The screams of the dying monsters are a bit annoying.

I don't know, the one time I tried it (back when skulltag used to have a couple of full servers playing non-stop duel) something felt off about the way it controlled, I guess I got too used to the physics in skulltag because I kept dying over and over again from simple things like not making a jump I thought I could or simply not being as good as the other players (when I was actually quite good in skulltag, I don't think there's that dramatic of a skill difference)

Also, drop the persecution complex. People don't dislike and not play ZDaemon because it's vanilla, or because it's some much maligned underdog.

People dislike the port itself because it's a fork of an open source port that is closed source, has GPL violations (the console from quake 2) which can't be conclusively proven because closed source, the Administration is unreasonable and offers no recourse when someone is banned, which wouldn't be as big of a deal if it didn't require you to log into an account to retrieve the master server list, which it does not provide if you are banned. Members of the administration are confrontational, unreasonable and outright rude without provocation. They also will ban people from ZDaemon based upon statements made The administration also does everything in it's power to prevent the creation of private servers which would circumvent the master list. Thankfully they are incompetent and so they are not usually successful.

There are numerous reasons why many people don't play ZDaemon. It, being a fork of an early ZDoom build, manages to behave decidedly unvanilla, thus making it unattractive to people wanting to play vanilla games. At the same time it is hopelessly behind both its parent and Zandronum in terms of modability; it manages to combine the worst of both worlds. Another reason is the fact that it requires people to create accounts to be given access to the master server list, which is not done automatically and must be manually approved by a ZDaemon admin. This can take up to a week. Ask why it's taking so long and your account and ip will be banned/blacklisted. Pick a nickname that's close or even vaguely similar to someone else that was banned in the past and your account and ip will be banned/blacklisted. All bans are permanent. On top of that, despite being closed source to "prevent cheating", cheating is rampant.

Even when others outside of the ZDaemon community try to reach out to bring new players to it, the ZDaemon administration/devs want nothing to do with them and are instead openly hostile. When the people behind Doomseeker (which supports finding servers for Zandronum, Odamex and Vavoom) tried to contact the ZDaemon devs they responded with unwarranted snarkiness and bile. Reason? The guy that sent the email had made some comments on Doomworld in the past that amounted to "ZDaemon is not the best multiplayer source port, I don't like it very much, it has some flaws." They also apparently want total control over ZDaemon players, and having people connect to ZDaemon servers using a different frontend is something that is completely intolerable.

I also think it's hilarious that you're complaining about harsh 4chan moderation when the MAXIMUM ban you will receive without posting CP or instructions to make a bomb is 3 days, and that's even if the deleted posts resulted in a ban and not just deletion. And even if you are banned you can still browse the site, just not post.

Compare to ZDaemon where all bans are, again, permanent.

When you've spent some time dealing with aliasers, you learn to recognize various things, how they type, their reactions to various situations, etc. Like how people called out l1t for the zdaemon shit earlier today.
