I haven't fully cleaned this yet, the napkin is because the last owner had some old alkalines in the GG.

Port covers with mechanical joints and gaskets. For some reason, the EXT port has no cover.

That big square block is empty. Not sure if it's to store an extra game or set of batteries. There's no structures inside to suggest one way or another.

Thickness comparison with GBA and NGPC.
If the screen cover wasn't as big and the back didn't have the finger grips and empty block it would be about the same.

I like it a lot, but what makes it really cool is also what makes it really weird. There are basically two different ways to hold it, one for 3d control and one for 2d control. Unusual. It's unfortunate that it never really got fully utilized because there weren't very many 2d games for the n64 (there really should have been, not a ton of developers could really make a competent 3d game at the time) and I don't think there were any games that shifted between 2d and 3d and required you to switch up your grip on the controller. Lost potential.

The second most comfortable looking N64 pad is a third party one that has the analog near the D-pad.

And them most comfortable is the Hori one, made to be used by humans.

I dropped my original GB in my parents garage when I was like 12 and the screen got vertical lines through it but Nintendo repaired it for me for free when I called the 800 number. It might be some kind of a side effect of that. They have! The Xbox controller essentially used USB with a proprietary plug, so if you splice a USB cable on the end and find drivers (Steel Battalion drivers exist.), it's pretty easy to use Xbox controllers on a PC. I want to play Mechwarrior with one of these so badly.
