It should be possible, but I don't know enough of the limitations of ACS and decorate to say exactly how you'd do it.
Obvious answer is to create an actor where the bullet hits the wall, compute the angle to where the shot was fired from, and fire a shot in the proper direction to serve as the bounce. Only question is if you can do that in an elegant manner.

I actually have a theory that all the weapon sprites focus on the left hand because they were using the right hand to take pictures. It's easier (in theory) to hold a camera steady with your dominant hand, and I believe Kevin Cloud (who was the "hand model" for all the Doom hands as well as DN3D's hands) is right handed

Bruiser Brothers are child's play with or without secrets because in E1M5-7 you get rocket launcher+ammo and that's all you need
Circle strafing the Cyberdemon becomes quite boring and he dies fast with the plasma rifle
Spider Mastermind is super easy,it only takes 2 BFG shots
Icon of Sin is easier than Mastermind

Custom Made stuff have better boss fights than the vanilla bosses,im not saying that the bosses are bad because they are still threatening,specially if the author is an enemy placer mastermind[fuck going down,even the normal soldier wreck your ass]

They're tools. ANY enemy solo is a cakewalk. Give me a pistol, enough ammo, and a bit of cover for fighting a hitscanner/archvile and I'll kill anything. Hell, don't even need the pistol for half the enemies.
Cyberdemons and Spiderminds are powerful tools because they demand attention, and thus serve as massive threat multipliers for the small fry in the area. Just having to keep an eye on a spidermind makes everything else deadlier because you HAVE to take cover. Just having a cyberdemon around means you can't cutback without checking to make sure there's no rocket flying towards where you were. A good boss fight in DOOM is about the boss providing threat while you clear out the small fry to set up the opportunity to focus on the boss.

The Cyberdemon "boss" fight is meant to be taken with RL only, so the lost souls can easily get you killed and it takes ages to take him down.

If you want external equips then

It takes literally no skill to beat the mastermind as long as you have some armor and full health. Just run towards it holding ctrl with the BFG and you win. Icon of sin at least takes a kind of accuracy that you are not used to, while random spawns can get out of hand VERY fast.

But you're right, Doom has no proper boss fights. I recommend you go fight D'sparil on "nightmare".

The levels were tested from pistol start but by release they were "intended" to be played from one level to another. The goddamn manual says "save often, otherwise if you start the level again with nothing but a pistol" or some variation thereof.

What is intended with pwads is a different story, and varies from wad to wad greatly.

The deal is, the level designers generally tested their maps all from a pistol start, due to the prospect of dying without having saved. Y'know, them ironman or new players I guess. In hindsight, they've said they feel the game was too easy because of this.

Either way, a general rule among mapmakers is to be possible to beat a given map from a pistol start.

Just because saving regularly helps, it doesnt mean the game expects you to reload a save file from 30s ago every time you die.
Doom would be insanely harder if all levels were balanced expecting a full inventory.

The fact that you WANT to make your levels easier, to find secret areas that reward you an amazing rocker launcher at map20+ that adds nothing besides +1 rocket to your collection, etc is your problem.
You're also free to play on whatever difficulty you're confortable and quicksave every 3 seconds if thats your thing. You dont have to pistol start every level on Nightmare dude, most dont.

Wont change the fact that every level was balanced to be beatable with no starting gear, therefore blazing through with 600 cells can ruin many challenging encounters.

I know that the Winchester shotgun they used for Duke Nukem 3D was mirrored, seemingly intentionally, so that you could get a good view of the ejection port.

Why they couldn't just have him bring the gun to the other side of the screen for pumping it to show off the ejection port, I don't quite know, but it does actually look good, so I can't really complain.

Some day, I want to get a Winchester 1300 Defender, and kit it out with cheap TacStar parts, and have an engraver put the radiation sign on it, to recreate the actual Duke Nukem shotgun.

Whenever this issue comes up I think people get rubbed the wrong way by overly zealous comments that they take as trying to force you to play that way or something. Obviously you can do whatever you want, but the impact on how you experience the level is worth considering.

Pistol starting is what made me appreciate Doom and fall in love with it again. You end up noticing so many more things about the level designer's attention to monster/item placement and ammo/health balance. A simple green armor secret will feel like a well-earned reward that gives you some breathing room instead of a checkbox to tick on your way to 100%.

The simple fact of having to find a shotgun at the beginning of a map makes many level starts more frantic and exciting--E3M3 and E3M4 come to mind. The mapper knows you need that stuff so it becomes bait and another tool for tricky setups instead of keycard and switch ambushes all the time.

So yeah, don't think of it in terms of being "hardcore" or bragging rights or whatever, just don't dismiss the impact on level design and playing.

I think the problem is that :
- Quake came out soon after Duke3D; and technically speaking, it was 'superior' (full 3D with level design making full use of that, 3Dmodels etc)
- Technical side of games matter a lot (TOO MUCH) to devs, publishers, reviewers, and sadly even players; to a point where it often becomes more important that fun itself
- so Broussard kept changing engine to try to make sure the game is as technically impressive as possible when coming out. Except that every time that happened, that meant redoing most things from scartch; so constant delaying

In the end, I liked DNF a lot. Duke was definitly in character for the most part. DNF is to modern FPS what Duke3D is to Doom-like FPS. Most of the flaws of DNF are the typical flaws of modern FPS of that era.

E1 maps are the most classic to me, but to avoid having a boring pick: E3M3, Pandemonium. I think this is Sandy's best map and a pretty good attempt at doing hellish visuals in Doom, especially considering his maps aren't known for being pretty. It's clear he wanted to make a surreal, freaky environment with stuff like water on the ceiling, scrolling walls, ceilings open to the sky with floating pillars, and I love that "upstairs" little flesh maze. It's not a very difficult map, but because you have a choice of routes, you have to do some exploration so you don't run out of ammo. Sandy hides goodies in places that are not exactly hidden or hard to get to, but are non-obvious.

The spearhook outclasses it in every way though.
WAY more flinching and range, doesnt eat stamina, besides being better for closing distances for obvious reasons.

For anything that should take more than a couple slashes to kill, you can use a little red mana with the transformed cannon's scattershot, which freezes even arch-viles in pain state for like 10 seconds. Its even AoE.

I'd have the imps be somewhere between the classic and the d3 style. They'd walk on either four or two limbs like a monkey, but less agile than in d3. More cybernetics and sci-fi in general; the Cyberdemon and Revenant are already the best designs. I like the concept art of cyberCacodemons. Maybe cyber enemies apear to replace weaker versions when you get to Hell.

Arachnotrons would go from armored walking tanks to creepy as shit cyberspiders because the realistic graphics would allow for more creepiness and I like that.

Imps, Demons and Hell Knights would need reworking, not sure what I'd do there but they're very bland. I don't want to turn them into dumb animals like D3 did but I'm not sure.

The Arch-Vile could stay the way he is circa D2, a creepy tall disjointed guy who screams and shoots fire in your face.

All the former humans would get designs that made them somewhat similar to Bioshock's Big Daddies, faceless barely-sentient murder machines with animalistic instincts and not generic zombies. Helmet/armor design would make that easier.

Warring factions would be great too, one of the few things Halo really brought to the table was the dynamic campaign and your enemies being different. Could definitely start out with the player assisted by other Marines, then the Marines are corrupted by Demons a ways in and you have to fight them, stuff like that.

Even aside from the closed source, the graphics always seem way too bright and washed out (like the gamma's been forcibly turned up?), it doesn't support a lot of mods, the whole community's made up of failing-grade high schoolers, and the whole global banning thing doesn't help a lot.

I think it's actually one of the better options, since it doesn't roll to hit (which means it doesn't take penalties for blind-firing, only range). Strafing in circle will help you avoid most hitscans.

If you're facing a single pigcop; don't use 2 shotgun shells. Use one shotgun shell; and then switch to pistol and only about 2-3 bullets will finish him.
For a single octobrain, 2 shotgun hits + a few bullets; rather than 3 shotgun hits

don't waste your ammo to kill slimers and eggs; use your foot (or at worst, your pistol). I've seen people use shotgun shells to kill EMPTY EGGS.

Starting episode 2, you'll have the shrinker. It's overpowered, keep it for the aliens which have the most hp (commanders, octobrains; maybe even enforcers)

Hmm no, they don't die from one rocket, they die from two. The thing is, one dev hit = 2 rockets. But it CAN happen that you only have 1 rocket left (very rare) or that only one rocket hit them out of the two, in which case they won't die.

It's as if you were playing with a wad that replaced all the sounds with some guy's voice. It might be fun for a few minutes but then the gimmick wears off and you want to unload the wad and continue playing without that garbage.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how the hell do I get DoomRPG to work.

I downloaded the required gzdoom version, I extracted the DoomRPG zip into the gzdoom folder, renamed it to 'DoomRPG' like the installation guide told me to.

Basically, you can use gzduum shortcut and use command line -file to make it work. You have to write paths to >>folders themselves<< to make it work. If you want to play plain DoomRPG, then you should add "-file DoomRPG\DoomRPG". If you want to play it with extras, then you should add "-file DoomRPG\DoomRPG DoomRPG\DoomRPG-Extras" and so on for necessary stuff. If you want to play, let's say, DoomRPG on Alien Vendetta, then you should add "-file av.wad DoomRPG\DoomRPG". I guess this should be simple.
I've never used this launcher so I can't help you with it.

Also, sacrifice some of your time to get the chaingun secret in E1M2. Maybe the chainsaw too since it's basically on the way to the exit. Chaingun will help immensely.

Basically there's not much strategy involved, 99% of E1M3 is luck with damage rolls because shotgunners everywhere. The fastest way will be "just" charging through while blasting everyone in next order: monsters that block your movement go down first, then shotgunners, then anyone else.
About E1M4 jumps: the one across the gap straight to exit door requires perfect angle for StrafeRun50-jump which is hard to pick while rushing everything. The other one, to yellow key, is easier and requires only SR40. Do 5-6 consecutive successful jumps to "feel" the angle you should be running at.
