So I see Americans have Goodwill and places like that to find old games, but where are the best places to find retro stuff in England? Specialist stores in Manchester where I live (one in Affleck's Palace, one round the corner next to a Co-Op facing the Arndale) are absolute con merchants. I've had some luck in charity shops but the most luck I've ever had has been either eBay or car boots which I never get a chance to go to anymore (the giant Chelford car boot in Cheshire is a retro game goldmine).

tl;dr best places to find retro stuff around England, particularly near Manchester?

Only PS1 game I've seen in a Converters/Generators is WCW vs nWo.

I'm surprises CeX doesn't do PS1 titles.

FUCK Rewind up the ass.

Picked up some games there, Tekken Tag didn't work, took it back, woman behind the till tells me 'sorry we don't do returns or refunds', starts fucking chastising me and my mother who was with me at the time telling us that we were lying and trying to get money back for nothing, saying 'I could try this on a Playstation right now and I guarantee it will work', continues her fucking tirade for ages with the mother (I leave them to it and continue browsing the overpriced Playstation titles). Eventually, we got her to phone the guy who owns the store (who she stressed would NOT refund me) who then tells her to refund me.

It fucks me off how cool the store is, actually cooler than when it was Roundabout Toys, but that fucking jobsworth of a woman ruined everything.

In my experience or at least around my area
cash converters sometimes has cool stuff

CeX doesn't sell anything older than ps2 even though i've seen people take in ps1 games before. and all the good stuff there gets reserved for the hipsters that work there

CeX is new-age-hipster-chino-wanker-#tlad scum and should be burned

Charity shops, bro. But here's the deal, they often won't put games out, it's either straight in the bin or to the depot to be ebayed or binned.
best advice i can give you is find the best charity shop in the area/town and volunteer. you'll get to be the first person to see if anything good comes in, they'll give you a good price if you're nice/helpfull and you'll feel good that you saved some games.
usually won't be much in the way of game donations and what does appear will often be shit but when something good does come in, buy it there and then, jizz and then enjoy.
i've been doing volunteer work almost half a year and i've gotten 2 snes's, a dreamcast, 3 ps2s, a psp, an xbox, a megadrive and about 100 assorted games on all the consoles and more.

there's mountains of shit, don't get me wrong, but damnit it's worth it. also if you're unemployed it helps a lot!

This. was unemployed for 9 months and the jobcentre sent me to some British heart foundation shop to do electrical testing, the old codger i was working with and the manager were solid and let me take anything i wanted that came in (providing i bought it from them at ridiculously cheap charity shop prices)
In 9 months we had about 10 PS2s, a PS1, a sega saturn, an amiga, an XBOX and a couple of megadrives. But as >>1705465 said, anything good gets put straight on ebay
