A while back this used to be a really good arcade, but it closed down in 2011.
Now it's being used as a warehouse for old games.
These are photos from there.

I live in this shitty town called Stockton, in California. When I was a kid we used to have this pizza restaurant called Naughty Nick's (see pic) and was the absolute best place. I used to always have my birthday party there. They had tons of arcades, It was massive. Not only that, their pizza was amazing. I vividly remember their pizza having really super thick crust, I've never had pizza like it since.

I have no idea how such a place that amazing got shut down. They closed down like 12 or 13 years ago.

Arcades around here all closed down or have become absolute crap.

Man, I have such fond memories of Smiles. My old man and I used to kill hours in the billiards room from time to time. The laser tag was great too. Sucks that not too many of these kinds of places are around anymore. Hell, CT doesn't have a whole lot to offer, so seeing this place close brought a tear to my eye.

Well, arcades are still alive where I live.
They've changed though.
The death or arcades on the US and Japan meant companies don't produce many arcade games anymore so sometimes arcades include ps3 put inside a cabinet and the controler totally destroyed to adapt it to the cabinet.
Or really old games that are too expensive to play just for the sake of nostalgia.
New "games" are more gimmicks and attractions than games, like big machines that simulate a ride on a deathly rollercoaster, stuff like that.

I was recently in Seattle for a night and I managed to stumble into at LEAST 3 decked out pinball arcades. I talked to the locals and appeartly it's pinball city there. I managed to get in a couple games and the venue we were playing had a great sega south park one.

Talked to one of the owners at a place I peeked in and they said they hold local tournys every week.

Another venue that opened up in Ottawa Canada is decked out with about 30-40 tables, and about 10 other gamesl. They do a free play night every Sunday for 5 bucks and keep track of highscores!

I really hope they can succeed, it's a great place ran by muscians, who also run a studio under the same name .

I think what makes the images so emotional is the contrast of the joy the machines bring and the sad environment they are displayed in.

Don't know about the rest of you CT folk, but I want to thank OP for giving Milford Amusements a send off like this. The imagery, sound and dialogue of the piece encapsulated a profoundly important era. Maybe we could all meet up at Smiles and game?

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, I don't know. I do know that sometimes arcades do have mock arcade cabs of indie games. Like, I've heard about multiple ones for a couple of Anna Anthropy's games, Lesbian Spider Queens form Mars and The Mighty Jill Off.

I'd ask the developer before you do it, though.

And actually made money, I think you'd have to at least start with it being something else also like a barcade or shop.

That is honestly my favorite song in the world, and if only there were a chiptune version of it, it would match this thread perfectly.
