we get a Martian Gothic thread like everyday, at least I've been seeing a lot lately

I think it might have became one of those games that aren't obscure at all anymore because of their obscure status

Okay, "obscure" status. You know those games like Live-A-Live or Earthbound everyone thinks to be obscure while they're not obscure at all because everyone has played them because they've heard they're obscure hidden gems nobody played?

>> No.1632956

There was a ps1 game or something where you were trapped on a space ship or something? I don't remember the name or if it even was on the PS1 but the game seemed pretty spooky.

Thanks for sharing this game. I've never heard of it. I'll have to look into it as it looks pretty good.

Yeah, I have been noticing that. Martian Gothic does seem to have a small following but it still seems to be an obscure survival horror...for now.

Except literally everyone I know who had SNES in the 90s and was into RPGs has owned and played Earthbound. It was never obscure. Ever.
And Japanese games (such as, as you mentioned, Live-a-Live, par exemple) are generally going to obscure outside of Moonside to begin with.

Are you the guy who made the Martian Gothic thread a few days ago? Your email sounds familiar.

Anyway, this game doesn't get mentioned a lot.

I found out about that one while looking up Twilight Syndrome. That was quite a bit of detail put into those animations.

Yeah.

Some dude game me a CiB copy of that for free off of eBay when I bought a copy of Armada from him years back.

I always assumed it was dogshit, I should give it a play.

Raz is a guy with no memory trying to leave a mysterious laboratory. That's it. Its a lot like Doctor Hauzer, lots of environmental hazards and puzzles, limited combat and few enemies. Very cheesy.

I can't help but love this game.
Once you figure out the stupid system.

Toyhunter was way too funny, the fact that Sexy Doll is a thing is way too funny.

...Iru! is probably one of my favourite obscure ones. I know of all its flaws but there is something about it that makes me love it

Although Devilman >>1633035 is pretty interesting for its mechanics. It's like Silent Hill Shattered Memories except 15years before.

I have that on saturn. Its really interesting. Theres absolutely no bullshitting around in that game with the one-hit game over and the limited number of saves/loads. I also like games like that where you have to physically draw maps on paper to be able to navigate around. You dont see challenge like that today very often. Its fun imo

My. Fucking. Nigger.
This is the game that made me love the Dreamcast. Only had space channel 5, sf3, amd sanik for the console, thought they were fun but eh.
Was able to pick illbleed up for 30, blew my shit away. I love the shit out of killer 7 and it really scratched that same kind of itch. And the console has all these other weird lesser known survival horror games, carrier, blue stinger, alone in the dark, the ring, d2.
I now have a third of the Dreamcast library, aiming for a full set.

I think it's done because it's particularly irritating to see people make grammatical mistakes that make the user appear ignorant or lazy. For example, it's understandable for someone to misspell a word like supercalifeagilisticexpialodocious. On the other hand, you look like a lazy douche when you can't be bothered to add an apostrophe when combining the words "it" and "is" to form "it's".

>> No.1639030

>>1633325

Well, that's kinda obvious, Yuuyami Doori it's like the evolution of Twilight Syndrome in many aspects, sadly it has some bugs here and there that might prevent the player from reaching the best ending. Moonlight Syndrome is just a sequel of the first two Twilight Syndrome, sadly they picked another direction and the game is kinda hard to understand because the lack of subtitles in japanese.
