It's not Doom nor Blake Stone, but it's surprisingly fun.

probably one of the only retro games i own boxed after my parent threw all my stuff out when i moved away

the music in the intro was amazing (also in the lifts)

Very much an Aliens experience, flame throwers, shotguns, pulse rifles, face hugger like creatures!

Awesome game.

Someone actually played coop by getting second Genesis + cartridge + tv?

It must be a mess with its pinball physic.

A friend of mine years ago (around 2003 or so) also had a copy of this, so we butchered a few 3rd party controllers to make a link up cable.

It was AWESOME. It quickly became the go-to multiplayer game for our group of friends. It even overtook Micro Machines 2 for a while.

If you can get 2 TVs, MDs, and copies of Zero Tolerance in the same room at the same time, I urge you to try. It is fun

What am I supposed to do in the second chapter ?

Wait whaaaaaat? There's a link cable game on Genesis? Are there any others? I have more than enough equipment other than copies of the cartridge and this is exactly the kind of demo my peeps love.

This is the only game I know of. The cable was provided by Technopop (who made the game) via a mail-in offer packaged in the case. It has now become quite common knowledge though, see here how to make one:-

It's pretty easy, even possible with just electrical tape (though I recommend soldering and heatshrink wrapping the join for durability)

I learned about the link cable a few months ago. It's one of my some day projects. I found a loose copy of the game last week for $1.99 at one of the local used game shops.

I plan on buying a complete copy for the collection when I can. And when I have both copies I'll make the link cable.

Any tips on how to enjoy this? I can't seem to get into it with the way enemies lunge at you at the speed of light and how getting shot throws you back and spins you round. I tend to just play the first 5 minutes and play Bloodshot instead.

I had the same problem at the beginning. Learn the "combos" - once you have the flying kick down, everything seems more sane.

I remember watching my Dad play this when I was a kid.
I remember him exploiting an elevator to try and kill this orange with with robot legs...

How do you do the flying kick? I just picked up a loose copy.

I've heard good things about Blake Stone and Corridor 7, but I'm curious: what's the /vr/ take on the Catacombs series? GOG's putting it up for cheap, and I know it's in-between Hovertank and Wolfenstein in terms of complexity.

Can't remember off the top of my head, but I think it was A+up then B, or B+Up then A, something like that.

This did so many ingenious little things for back in the day. The security cameras. That sniper. The putting out fires, and having to take paths up and down over multiple floors. I'm sure there are a thousand things I've forgotten, too. There is little as satisfying as flamethrowering those WIBBLYWEE things in the greenhouses. You know the ones.

Really suffered for being on the Genesis, though. Movement and that framerate feel that bit too slow and clumsy but given the mad pace enemies move at it's not practical to speed it up much via emulation, which sucks. It already often boils down to waiting around a corner for everyone to charge in to your bullets, at least against the human enemies.

If ever a game would have benefited from being on the PC this is it. Mouse control to keep pace with the enemies, a better framerate, and a bigger viewing window with a greater draw distance. I feel like it would have been a landmark title.

It's a shame that its somewhat of an unknown game to most people, I would have enjoyed a remake with the Doom engine.
same look but faster gameplay.

thats actually an interesting idea for a project... Maybe you should bring it up on the doom thread.
