It's a sweet point & click adventure game.

The puzzles are logical and the gameplay flows really smoothly - you almost never get stuck with pixel hunting (except for that one rock) and randomly trying every item from your inventory on everything in the world. You think about obstacles you have to overcome and find solutions, the way it should be.

The atmosphere and the story are quite memorable, although sometimes the setting you find yourself is quite unexpected and somewhat incongruent with the rest of the game (the Aztecs.

It could be a little longer as well.

If you want to play it so bad, play it. Don't let playing games become a chore. If you have to, get rid of a game on your backlog, Sanitarium has its flaws but it has some of the best atmosphere in a game that I've seen.

It's pretty short though, you could probably beat it in a day. Game is really good too, great atmosphere, some good puzzles and some genuine "feel" moments. The first half of the game is way better than the second, though.

The game kept crashing for me at a certain late-in-the-game chapter so I had to "Beat" this game by watching the rest of it on YouTube.

It's an OK game, but like Phantasmagoria, overrated and nowhere near as difficult as I expected it should have been.

I don't think enough people criticize it for the weak points I pointed out as they ought to criticize it. Point-and-clicks should have some element of trial-and-error. The puzzles were... hell, I don't even -remember- them. Blah.

I met the developers of these guys about a month ago. They're some pretty cool and extremely humble guys.

They apparently ran a kickstarter for a spiritual sequel a while back, but it failed.

Seconded. I remember playing the Sanitarium demo years ago off one of those disks you got with pc gamer mags. It wasn't years later that I got to play the full version. Great game.

I love Sanitarium! I kind of wish though that the game was entirely about the protagonists trek across a fucked up north america. Basically more of that mutilated childrens town.

One of my favorite games. I loved the different settings and atmosphere, but I never finished the game. Maybe this summer I'll finish it, but I lost my save file so I'll have to start over.

I originally downloaded an ISO of this game way back but eventually found it on GOG and bought it in a combo pack.

It's a neat game with great atmosphere, but voice acting is fucking terrible for the most part, especially the main character. Some puzzles are pretty bullshit too.

Oh man, Sanitarium. Great creepy as fuck game with clever but not impossible puzzles. I think I'm gonna reinstall.
