That feel when when OP randomly capitalizes a when and it sets off some weird OCD.

You've got 50/60hz TVs with RGB SCART. That's the big, heavy, expensive part. Just import NTSC consoles.

That OCD you get when OP says tfw and when in the same sentence.

Wont i need some sort of power converter as well?

Most consoles have external power bricks, and the actual DC input to the console is the same across regions (i.o.w., just pick up a local power brick).

I think the SNES breaks this rule, but again it's not difficult to find modern switched-mode bricks that handle essentially any input voltage.

They're like ten cents. They're just prong converters - or if you want to be a real cool dude you could just install some US outlets or at least buy a US surge strip.

I might get it modded when i stop being a poorfag soon. Because muh superior PAL SNES design. fuck that purple fischer price nonsense.

I wouldn't recommend using these with old transformers. If it says "INPUT: 120V 60HZ", plugging it into a Euro power outlet will probably be bad news. Newer bricks will say something like "INPUT: 100-250V AC" and those are totally fine.

The worst that'll happen is he'll burn up the power supply and if he's using an SNES that's no big deal since he'd need to replace it anyway... Sounds like he wants to use Dreamcast though and they, aling with Saturn & Playstation have internal power supplies.

>> No.1601334

could i not just use one of those travel converter things?

me and my brother went to USA to visitn our cousin and we played Street fighter 2 the new challengers. We bitched at him for putting it on some sort of cheat code that made everything move in fast forward. Oh if only we knew the real reason.

That's what we're discussing. I say sure. He says no. So I said "Try it on your SNES and find out since it's easy to replace its power supply anyway"

>power converter
The term is "step-down transformer".
And yes.

Or you could find an equivalent power supply.
eg. A US Super Nintendo requires 10V DC, 850mA, and center-negative plug to function. If you cut the end off a Sega Megadrive 1 power supply (same as above, except 1.2A which is even better) and wire it to a US SNES power jack/plug, hey presto you've got a functional power supply for your imported console.

Just mod your fucking Systems then.

You can mod a PAL Wii and then play Gamecube, some N64 and all 16bit games (even neo geo) in 60hz... looks glorious with RGB on an CRT. Get a Playstation with a chip and burn some NTSC games to enjoy them in 60hz. And I'm sure there is a solution for nearly every other console I didn't mention.

Its really not that difficult you know.

Not hardly. A well burned game played on original hardware is, indeed, identical to playing a real game. Emulation, especially for disc based consoles, is certainly not.

OP you're on the wrong side of the retro gaming spectrum. Europe was the place for PC gamers back then. You should be looking back on all the classic computer games you missed because none of the console developers gave a fuck about you guys then except for Rare.

Maybe he already played those?
Italy here and here we never got the NES until 88(not joking), which meant most of us(poorfags) kept on playing Atari and Commodore(if not the intellivision) until the SNES and Megadrive came out and we'd see those at some rich relative' house.

Imagine the reaction.
In the 90' though Pc(especially LucasArts games) and PSX were all the rage, mainly because you could pirate everything on the PSX no problem and same for the Pc, except the games with MP like Age of Empires.
There was simply no time for the SNES and Nintendo to get a real audience, the SNES launched here in 92' and the distribution was ass, most kept on playing on Pc until the psx came out in 95 and revolutioned everything.
