Have you beaten it?

These licensed games were hard as fuck.

I never played the SNES JP game, but I did play the NES one and the Genesis game (where you could play as a raptor too), never could finish them.

Pic related kept me too terrified to complete this as a kid.

Now that I'm older, it feels like it isn't designed to be completed in a single sitting anyway.

My eldest brother managed to get through the entire thing exactly once. We all watched with bated breath as he got the last of the eggs and went to call for a chopper. It took him the better part of a day to manage it.

Yes, on an actual SNES. It was pure hell.
>no saves
>no passwords
>limited lives
>6 hour game

Jesus fucking hell no.

I never knew which building to start off in and I would always get lost inside of them.

I actually asked for this game over Super Metroid.

Nope.

I spent my Christmas money on it :/

>> No.1595361

No. Even using save states. Somehow I always miss an egg or two and by that point I'm too pissed off to backtrack.

>> No.1595376

You remember that part where you walk through a narrow forest to the right and a Tyranosaurus pops out behind you from the trees and you have to outrun it on the next screen?

>> No.1595378

I never managed to beat Game Gear Jurassic Park as a kid. I had the Japanese version which didn't really help.

>> No.1598389

Yes but not as a kid. I remember I would be in the raptors nest and touch a wall and my game would freeze. I was so upset I cried. Played again and froze on the ship. Didn't try to beat it again till I was an adult.

As an adult I finally played it through to find.... hardly any ending. What??? I wasted childhood tears for this bullshit?

Still mad.

SNES? Nope. Every time I'd get far into it I'd get kicked off the TV or there would be a brownout, blackout, system would get knocked over, etc. The game is short, but at the same time too long to not have at least a password system.

Genesis? Yup. Loved JP & Rampage, but the river rapids level was a real pain. Stupid t-rex would always gobble me whole when I least expected it.

Sega's Lost World arcade machine was pretty awesome too. From fast paced Virtua Cop action to really bad voice acting, it was awesome.

And of course Operation Genesis was great too, if you're into sims.

Never beat the SNES one. Kicked the bucket on the ship or something.

The NES one I cleared numerous times though. Really loved it, felt like it was the perfect length, was tense and had awesome music.

And the music IS awesome.

>> No.1599098

Had the gameboy game. Which I believe is a port of the NES. I don't remember if I beat it or not. It got very hard towards the end, but was quite good for something on the gameboy.

>> No.1599295

I remember the ship. You had to kill all the raptors I think to finish it. I got so lost as a kid I called the Nintendo 800 number and asked them where the remaining raptors were. The guy couldn't help me (obviously) but just said to keep searching.

>>1595376
Hah, yeah, that was one of the better parts imo.

>> No.1599494

Nope. I did rent it a few times though. What kind of shit doesn't have a save system for a game like this?

>> No.1601163

My friend owned this game on SNES when we were like 7. We had no idea what the fuck we were supposd to do.

>> No.1601184

yes it took all day and a super play guide i loved every moment.

>> No.1602093

I want to beat it some day. Also the Chaos Continues is hard as fuck.

>> No.1602939

Was the game basically just one big map with the exception of the interiors? I think I got to the sandy canyon like area with loads of eggs you had to pick up. Don't remember ever getting past that bit. Can't remember if I ever got past the T-rex in the forest either, died every time. Also never found NV goggles to go into the dark rooms. Fucking game was solid.

>> No.1603050

The game still scares me. The pitch black interiors, raptors that jump out of trees on the overworld, going into the underground raptor lair. I don't make it very far because my nerves can't handle it.

Rented this as a kid, man was it hard.

I got down to 2 eggs left before the power went out... I stopped trying after that and just played my other games. I don't know how long I spent on that run, but it felt like forever to my 10 year old mind.

>> No.1603147

My brother and I got far as hell in this... something about a nerve bomb? Never did finish it.

>> No.1603585

>>1603147
I think you nerve gas the raptor dens.

>> No.1603608

Played it as a kid. Got to the last ship I needed and got stuck in the HINGE OF THE FUCKING DOOR and the game froze.

Haven't played it since. That game is the textbook definition of backtracking.
