itt: favorite games based on television series or movies

I say this every thread (and hopefully I've convinced someone of playing), but Judge Dredd and True Lies are better than they have any right to be.

Most Konami and Capcom licensed games were good. Hard to pick a favorite... maybe TMNT IV.

Terminator 2 on C64. the dark, gritty tone and music, unusual for C64 games, really gave it that similar ominous feel the movie had

the turtles games were good too. though the 16-bit beat em-ups were far superior, the original turtles game on the C64, specifically the PAL version, is one of my favourites

cant think of any others right now, unsurpringly as movie/tv show-to-game adaptations are notorious for being utter shit

Super Star Wars.
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
I think the colons get even more ridiculous after that one but you get the point. Star Wars had a great run of good games in the early to mid 90s. Before well, you know what happened.

Beavis and Butthead was one of my first video games, I had it on the Genesis. It was hard as balls and that password system was hell, but thank god for cheat codes on the internet back then.

It's aged horribly but at the time its CAW was mind-blowing. I knew the n64 games were 'better games' but it was Attitude which I played constantly because of the fun of creating wrestlers and arenas and pretty much fucking everything.

>> No.1586906

>>1586771
To be fair, WWF Attitude was a decent (not great) alternative to WCW/nWo Revenge, for its time. I'd question the taste of anyone who picks Attitude up for their first time these days and likes it, but I can't blame a guy for their own fond memories.

I'm as glad as everyone else that THQ switched from WCW to WWF, because it always felt kinda lame that the crappier wrestling promotion had the better games.

That fucking 2nd level ruined the pace of the game early on though. Slow, no real platforming, just trial and error with the monkeys, and that emu section... Hoo boy.

Alien 3, Stargate, seconding Judge Dredd all on the SNES.

Those type of 2D platformers where they use a sci-fi/action movie setting were always fun.

Attitude looked and played pretty bad, but my bestfriend and I had a TON of fun with it: the sound effects were satisfyingly brutal (especially when using the mic weapon), and wrestlers got visibly bruised and bloody as they took damage. CAW mode was great, I remember making my bestfriend and I (then tons others) and we would then spend hours beating the shit out of the wrestlers we hated, then we'd make 4 players matches where each one of us had his own avatar...

Call WCW crap again and I'll suplex your ass through a table.
Seriously though, around the time Revenge came out WCW was still at its peak (and beating WWF for ratings). It was after 1998 that it went seriously downhill

I think Anon was getting at that the darker cartoon (there were two: a goofy one with slapstick humour and a 'darker' one that was basically a slash between a Tim Burton film and the Sonic franchise) was based on the Sonic series but Spinball itself is based on the cartoon? Not sure, however, as I've never played Spinball.
