My issue with the PSP version is they fucked with a lot of the sound effects. SotN was one of my favorite games when it came to the sound design so it really irritated me that they made a lot of pointless changes to the sound effects in the new version.

I already beat the game but I figured I most likely got through this level using Maria, so I'm trying Richter now. It's fairly long, has pretty much a conjuntion of all the most annoying enemies in the entire series.

Getting hyped because tonight is a vania night, I'm not gonna go to sleep until I can beat this fucking stage without using a continue.

IIRC you only need to select the appropriate BIOS with File->Open->OS ROM Image, then mount a game, select Open->CD-ROM via SPTI, select any file on your mounted disc and hit Run -> Run 2 (1-pass). That ought to do it. The controller configuration (analogue sticks aside) is somewhat sensible.

I figured it out though. Now if I could just figure out how to disable this shitty blurring filter being used when I switch to fullscreen. I'm also noticing some frame rate drops in this that I don't get in ePSXe. A frame counter/option to toggle no frame skip would be nice.

Yeah... I dunno. This definitely isn't running as well as ePSXe. Frame rate drops are totally unacceptable. Xebra also seems to really be lacking in video options. I really like playing natively-ugly games like G-Darius with higher resolution rendering even though it's not accurate.

Oh wow the frame rate problems are even worse in Raiden DX. Now this is just a death wish.

I noticed stage 5's is different on the PSP remake than in the original, On the remake it's a longer and more difficuly level. It also includes a new song called "Red Dawn" composed by Yamane, but sadly it replaces "Op. 13" which is one of my favorite tracks of Rondo.

You get the Silver Ring in the Chapel. In the 2nd or 3rd belltower, there is a long hallway to your left with a shit ton of spikes. To get through the hallway you need:
1) Mist Relic (found in Coliseum)
2)Spike Breaker Armor (found in Catacombs, should note you need the Bat's echo skill found in the Underground Water Vein to get the Spike Breaker)
3)Jewel of Open (which you already have)

Also, there's a really glitchy way to do this with just the mist and a shit ton of potions, look it up if you're interested.

And nigger, everyone knows Holy Water is the be all end all of sub-weapons in SotN

It's probably my favorite sword. I really like the Holy Sword as well, it's really good for breaking Shaft's orb, since Richter resists holy damage.

I have not found a single valid download for this version. Redump is listed incorrectly. The 1.2 version is actually SLPM-86023.

Also the retranslation works on SLPM-86023, and is advised against using it on later versions. Apparently there was something on their site to make their translation patch work on SLPM-86073, but of course their site has been dead for years.

Well, it's been pointed out that redump is actually in error. Every version is actually the same.

Download them and check the IDs yourself. I don't know if its been updated since then. As far as I can tell, there are no valid downloads for this version. May simply have not been ripped. I have tried a few, and then I checked the actual IDs. All of them were 86023.

You do? The versions are the Japanese "Playstation the Best". Possibly also the PSONE books version too.

Can you check the ID to ensure it's the right versions? List of IDs on gamefaqs.

I recommend just ripping the game right now as a simple bin/cue. Nothing fancy. Just so it works. Then contact Redump and inquire about how they want the games ripped and then try to submit it formally.

Yeah, I heard it amounts to basically just a couple of bug fixes, and the singing sprite. Not major things.

Disc and cover. I don't have a real Playstation to test on but I was able to rip it for use in an emulator.

Thank you my good man. I have been looking for this version for AGES. Months of threads and asking around. Got nothing. Finally my search is over. This is just for collection purposes really. I know the differences between the original release are very minor.

The Sword Brothers Glitch is one that I've heard was fixed in this version.

Really, that was the first thing I got off Yahoo Auctions. I'll play it to test that glitch later. Now as for the rip, I roughly compared the data track between it and the 1.2 Redump rip and there were only 4 bytes different towards the end, so that version may actually be correct.

Richter's flame whip bug was also fixed in the 1.2 version. For some odd reason, it's still busted in the PSP release.

Richter's whip starts off as a holy / hit weapon with 32 power, and using the flame whip crash does absolutely nothing in all of the US releases, and most of the JP releases. In the PS1 the Best release where it's been fixed, the flame whip changes from 32 holy / hit to 64 fire / hit.

Just got a 1:1 match to Redump 1.2 except for the very end of track 2, and it is impossible for my CD drive to read that. So rest assured it should be accurate.

Been a long damned time since I used the Stone Mask, and obviously before I knew the significance of it, but does it apply any sort of bonus when enemies bleed on you? I know there's Dark Metamorphosis, so it's not like it would be hard to implement.

Sadly, the Stone Mask doesn't have any blood-related abilities, like in Jojo. Just gives you a minor DEF and INT boost.

As far as references go, there's also the King Stone, which is based on Kamen Rider Black's transformation belt of the same name.

Again, track 2 is actually beyond the capability of my CD drive. The best I can do is verify track 1 is correct, I get the same SHA1 for it.

Why do you suspect it's incorrect anyway? 1.2 has three separate dumpers unlike the 1.0 and 1.1 ones.
