Games you can't remember the name of thread, since there isn't one in the catalog.

Puzzle game where you need to connect a gear at the start of a grid to another at the end with various size gears. I THINK it was under the Bubble Bobble trademark.

I will say that lurking might help. I played Heroes of Might and Magic 3 once, forgot about it, and didn't remember until I saw it in another thread.

perhaps you guys can help. It's a game for old apple computer. It was some weird side-scrolling puzzle game where you had to push objects. my memory is very hazy, but i think the objective was to push a pot of gold on to a rainbow? in order to do so, you had to push obstacles out of the way?

There was also a leprechaun theme to it. Four leaf clovers, pot's of gold, and you played as a leprechaun. It was on several computers so I ended up paying it in monochrome and color. No matter what though, it was always on a white background.

That's all I can remember.

I remember getting the game on one of those "Get 80 obscure cheapie crappy, maybe shareware" games on one CD, probably around 96 or so.

You had a little spaceship, 2D, moving the mouse moved, left mouse button fired the left laser, right button the right laser.

First few levels had you shooting down asteroids incoming, and later levels had you fighting the aliens who were sending them towards you, and while I could beat the level where you destroyed their base, I couldn't beat the one where you had to escape the aftermath.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm thinking of a Japanese NES game.
The game was a beat em up where you could play as three different characters. Leveling them up would upgrade their weapons. This game was incredibly weird. There was funky translations, and an old "lottery" man that would come every couple of stages. It ended with a giant black wall, saying something like "It all makes sense now".

Okay, it was a top down game where you were a young wizard with a pointy hat with stars on it. Everything was done in a claymation style. The beginning levels were forest with lots of spiders.

I've posted before, but no luck:

Okay, I got 2. At least the latter is probably extensively hard to know. I've posted these earlier without success.

The first one is a platformer on Amiga (500?). The main character is a wizard, and thumps his staff rythmically in the intro. The graphics were not cartoonish. I'm pretty sure you started out with a castle stage, and there was a dark blue night background.

The second is another game featuring what was probably a wizard on Commodore 64. Your view was top-down zeldaesque, except for in the beginning where you are on the fortifications of castle where you can also move from ground level and upper level platformer style (the actual viewpoint is the same through out) via ladders or tower, can't remember which. Monsters would attack the fort and you could use magic to zap them, sometimes they were able to come inside. You were also able to leave the fort from the bottom level to explore the wilderness. It was brownish colour if I remember correctly.

I've tried searching for both games with wizard or sorcerer in the name but my meager efforts have led me nowhere.

I know this was a PC only game and it's probably nothing popular or well-known.

It was a 3D game where you drive a futuristic(?) motorcycle around a field where it had ramps and stuff that you can drive off on; everything is very polygon-like, similar to early Star Fox games.

One of the levels (I think the first one) had this long, big ramp, where if you're going fast enough, you'll jump onto this long, large platform, up in the air, with triangular barriers, similar to the one pictured, spaced out. The level was dark except for whatever was at the end of the platform; I never got to it, but I think it took you to the next level.

You play as what can be best described as a cross between a tiger and Kirby, the gameplay is shown in an overhead perspective like Zelda and you fight shit with a sword, you go from room to room just like in original Zelda's dungeons, and some rooms have weird quirks to them like where you swat cannons to shoot octopi, kinda like space invaders

Sup /vr/,

I'm trying to find an old adventurre puzzle game I used to play.
I think it was on windows 95.
Had cartoonish hand drawn animation.
And there was no main character, just first person static camera ,click the door to see the next room, stuff.

All of the puzzles centred around music, I think i remember writing individual notes, but maybe you dragged and dropped measures of music into order to recreate a melody, or maybe those were two separate types of puzzles.

I remember an early puzzle, first one i think, was about helping a guy, he was depressed or just sad and had blue skin i think, with a flute and there was a big castle in the background, and obviously he's happy again after solving his music puzzle and plays his flute.
I think i remember getting to the castle and helping out these two anthro chess pieces which were very haughty and snobbish or at least got really annoyed when you got the puzzle wrong, in a garden/maze? and the ground was at least some part chessboard patterned.

The puzzles always went into a screen with a full music staff that covered up most of the screen.

I think it was designed to teach you about music(duh), but it wasn't really for me, but for my sister, and it was too advanced for me to truly understand the puzzles at the time.

I think the name was alliterative or something, and maybe had a famous composer in the title (mozart)?

If it helps it had some weird demo on the disc for a late night talk show game, also animated in the same style.

Sorry if I'm being too descriptive.

halp me pls
I remember this game about magic or some shit, had really dark environments.
At the start, a large Acclaim logo appeared (pic related), was a 2D sidescroller, SEGA Megadrive, that's all I remember 100%
Now, these memories are very untrustworthy:
You are a man in a dark-blue coat, following some other dude with a black coat. You start at the outside of the house. When you follow this man to the left, there's a bridge trough the water, but he destroys the start of the bridge and walks on. You jump trough the gap and continue walking.
The next level's background is just a brick wall and has an elevator in the middle.
Now, take this with a grain of salt: the next (third) level is very fantasy-like, you can jump high and there's like floating mini-islands and gaps where you fall and die.

Right, clearly this game wasn't as well known as I thought. Deathcycle was a game, shareware I believe, I had on (again, I believe) a PC Attack cover disc. Google PC Attack magazine and you'll see why it's so damn hard to find information on the mag, there were hardly any issues of it.

As for what I can remember of the game, it was a descent/quake/terminal velocity era pc game, so blocky but textured polygons, it had deathmatch as it's main mode (with bots IIRC) and you played as a tron style lightcycle, but you didn't constantly fart out wall like a lightcycle, it was just one of the weapons you could use. The maps were multi-level, not just flat arenas. It was played in third person. My friends and I loved it, but never bought the full game because we were cheap bastards.

I am now doubting myself that deathcycle was its' actual name. :(

Regardless, does that sound like the right one?

Old computer game from the 90s, you worked for some alien and traveled through time to take pictures of dinosaurs.

I got it in a bundle at best buy or some shit. It came with a game called Night Light, a point and click game with a dog and a cat and a really annoying theme song that got stuck in your head (and that I can still recite verbatim, despite the game seemingly lost to history).

Hi. Good thread (and sorry for the grammar). I been looking for the games I used to play in the arcades in the 90's.
I've found some of them (newzeland story, top hunters), but there are four that still elude me.

1. A tournament between professional killers: a white man, a white woman, a tall black man, a monkey, a couple of twins,
a monkey, a cirsus artist and an old man in a robotic wheelchair. Each one had it own distintive scenary.

2. A "final figth"-style game, where you controlled some robotic ninjas, with the particularity that you could posses
the bodies of any enemy indefinitely, gaining his abilities. You could abandon the body, "enter" on some other enemy, or fight with
your own abilities.

3. A plataformer where the protagonists are a couple of humanoids parrots (i think they were). They atackked throwing diferents weapons,
likes screws. It had vey psicodelic scenaries, and once you finished it, you could start it agian , with more difficulty, some minor changes,
and totally differents colours in the sceneray and enemies.

4. I know my descriptions are vague, but wait fot this one. A shoot 'em up game, but with 3d graphics. Its unique particularity (acording to me)
was that "changed" the rail in wich we flew. For example, we were flying over a river, suddenly a waterfall, the plane follows the fall and the view change accordingly.
When we reach the bottom, the plane change the course and also the camera. All of this was automatic, the only real movements were up-down-left-rigth.
I remember scenaries on the earth (i guess) and in the space. I think that the planes had some multi-rockets special attack ( macross style).

Any help, i'm grateful, thnks.

It was probably an 80s game, I think it was on PC. You were this dude in brown spandex who went into these strange towers, and your enemies were mutant armadillos and walking brown maracas. The inside of the towers were really small and bright, but they were really big and damp on the inside. At the end of each tower, you fought some sort of bull demon with detached, floating arms. When you beat him, you gain an Arabian guy that teleports you to the next towerscape. The game may have been based on Arabian Nights. I don't think I ever beat it, but the goal was to save your little sister so we could go preform in a play, I think.

I don't know if it had a deathmatch, but the textures weren't that detailed like the screenshots of Deathdrome.

The textures were very basic; the level I remembered was on a flat landscape with mountains in the distance and it was night... similar to Battlezone, but it was 3D and it had a lot of triangular shapes (as well as rectangular) and you were driving a vehicle, which I believe was a motorcycle.

I do remember when I managed to get onto the floating platform, that it was hard to stay in a straight line and I kept running off the edge.

This might not be /vr/, but I might as well ask. It was a PC game my cousin bought from Odd Jobs years ago, around 2004-2005. It was a 3D game. You played the role of some Caveman looking guy, and the cutscenes depicted him shrugging off the advances of some cavewoman, and the cutscenes had a choppy framerate with visible screen tearing, though it was probably from running on a standard Dell PC of the time. The guy looked like Tin Star in a way, with the suave hair and big chin design.

Another PC game I bought came on a tiny disk, even smaller than the GameCube disks. The disk wasn't even round, they somehow, literally cut corners when making it, making it curved at the ends but flat at the top and bottom. It was a 3D space flight game, and one of the things that I remember is that the world you're playing on quickly blew up, leaving you to wander around space.

There was a game in which you controlled a metalic ball, and the goal was to finish each level as quick as possible, where each level has it's own weird stuff, and was floating in space (you fell, you lost). The name was something like "ballz.exe", "balls 3d.exe" or "ballz 3d.exe", the game itself was in a "105 games" CD.
Some levels I can recall were "ollin" and "nightmare", in the first one the tematic was wood logs/planks, in the second one was to use plataforms to jump over a gigantic void. Another two levels were one in which there were pipes to move around, name starting with "b", and one in which the textures were quake/unreal like (dirty, dark/demonic looking), and the level itself was simetric.

Might not be the right place for this and may not even be in existence anymore. My dad had a collection of old cds and in them was one with "fake lemmings" written on it. No icon on the exe and the title screen was just four buttons for difficulty, easy, med, hard, extreme. Each one had 30 levels. Inside a level, the game played exactly the same as lemmings, just with new things that could kill the lemmings. One thing that stuck in my mind was that the music for this game was famous music, like Don't speak by No doubt and Nightswimming by R.E.M. but without the vocals, super-weird. Anyway, we lost the disc and my dad has little to no recollection of it so for all I know, his buddy down the road made it and that was the only copy but I figured here was my best bet. There was a game for PC that I played WAAAAAAAY back in the day where you basically were piloting a submarine or some other underwater vessel thing. The game was broken into two parts: exploring the sea, which involved basically working through a maze and occasionally finding treasure, and exploring the ship, which the only part of that I remember was going to the shop and using the treasure to buy things. I also get the distinct impression the game was supposed to be an edutainment game, because I remember there being some shit about learning money distribution or math something.

The game was a third person cowboy shooter, it was 3d and the graphics style was very cartoony.

It was a drive and shooting arcade game, but used 2d sprites and a mode 7-like effect to emulate 3d.

Player 1 would drive the car as well as gun down enemies, while Player 2 just had the gun.

The character designs were like this: P1 had slicked back black hair, while P2 had long blonde hair. The characters would say things when they got hit, or got a powerup.

Alright guys, I think it's time I pick the games from the deepest depths of memory. I remember these threads over the years since before /vr/ was anywhere near conception, and I got some games figured from /v/. I'll type out my list and I'll go through the thread
PC
1)5" floppy disc game, had some weird red/gold coloring I think, the name was maybe Knight? I'm convinced it had some knight and you just basically walked left and right, no other details as this was when I was like 4
2)5" floppy, a Disney game with Goofy, you jumped on clouds and such I think, and it was a light blue color scheme
3)DOS, a horror game I think, all I remember was it had an ocean wave sound in the beginning. I think it was about some kid's nightmare? If anything I'd love a list of DOS horror games to look through myself
4)DOS, one weird platformer that started at like a beach or something and one common enemy at the beginning was a lizardman or merman. Sorry these are terrible descriptions this is literally before I had a grasp on my ABCs
5)DOS,A game bundle, 100 classic game or one of those things, it had a Find Felix the Cat game where you're supposed to find Felix the Cat, it was so weird and short I THINK you can just find Felix in a pipe or something but it just said you found Felix and that was it, it kept going. It also was just a regular cat not THE Felix.
6)DOS/Windows3.1 maybe, a spaceship game that was awesome this was much later I could read then, you basically can fly in all directions, and you find other spaceships and you can talk with them and do missions, I am 80% sure one of the first if not the first one has you talking with someone and one of the choices was to tell them they looked very ugly and they said you didnt look much better
There's like countless more lost floppy/DOS games but this is as much as I can stretch my mind and it's already vague as hell.

Genesis/SNES/maybe NES
1)Some space game that can fly in any direction, and I remember in particular it had

some giant robot head and I shot it forever and it eventually wore out and blew and and became a skull or something, I'm leaning toward Genesis for it
2)NES?, it was a side scrolling shoot em up and all I can think up is this metal dragon enemy, it was pretty skinny but long, like triangular shaped, it had simple NES graphics but I'm pretty sure I played it with a joystick, and the only joystick I had was the one for the Genesis with the blue side buttons and suction cups on the bottom

One more DOS that I rmemebered
7)DOS
Some dog? Asian guy? Robot? has to stop this machine? It was basically a puzzle game, you had to use mirrors to reflect laser beams, you would die if you touched it or it touched you, and there was a ball you could move to block them. The colors I remember were bright red and yellow and flashy laser beams.

That's all I can think of at the moment, these two images were gonna be others but looking up DOS game images popped them up for me.

PC game mid to late nineties. 2D Platforming around levels you could go left right up or down. I think you played as a boy, but my mind could be filling in the gaps making it seem more graphically rich than it was. Not sure if time limit.

Potentially educational since it had you going around collecting letters of the alphabet. I don't remember what the goal was, maybe spell certain words? I vaguely remember other things you collect like diamonds or gems also, possible points system Seemed magical, but I was pretty young.

No. It's not Altered Beast either. This game was really goofy, as I've mentioned before, some of the rooms had weird gimmicks, and the biggest one I remember is you enter a room with a shitload of octopi, and you shoot them by swatting cannons with your sword.

it was one of those early simple poly 3d games on windows i think 95, it may have actually come with the computer because i dont remember anyone actually buying it

the color scheme was either like straight black/grey and green or black and red (like fuckin mars colored or something)
it was really simple, your job was to like defend this military base from alien space ships thatd periodically come down from the sky, and you played as either like a tank or a turret (or MAYBE you could play as the ship, i really dont remember what side you were supposed to be on)
it would give like a top down view of the base before the mission started and list off like "mission objectives" or something, i dont remember specifics
everything would like blow into chunks when you shot them, the base included, and i remember i was too shitty at the game to actually do what i was supposed to so id just destroy everything i could because i thought it was cool when shit would explode

i thought it was like some mars attacks! tie-in at first because i VIVIDLY remember the bright green floppy disc from that but it googled the shit out of that and i got nothing related to what i was looking for

Or in a country other than the US? In my country, if you want a whore, you go onto a government certified website, hire one (or many) and give them your address and credit card info. They come to your location and Bob's your uncle: orgy den. Whorehouses and streetwalking are illegal, though.
The next country over, across the sea, has brothels. It's a short ferry ride and some people go over to one of there nearby islands to partake in whorehouse shenanigans.
If you live in the northern parts of the country, you can just drive over the border to the north and hit up one of the brothels just across. They still speak our same language, so a lot of northerners just do that.
I've never hired a prostitute myself, but I know this is the case in my country. Is it really illegal in the Land of Burgers? What about muh freedumbs? Don't I have the freedumb to whore myself if or hire a whore if I want? wtf?

I've asked about these games in every one of these threads I've seen, but I'm sure one day someone will know... Maybe.

The first is an RPG/Maybe Roguelike game where death is permanent, you start in your own house, limbs have their own health, and upon entering new zones you get a message that was something along the lines of 'You have entered _____. You are considered _____ here.', with the second being a reputation of sorts. I believe your character's head was visible at all times by the limbs, and he was bald. It was Freeware/shareware, and I most likely got it at download.com. A common suggestion given is IVAN, but I'm very familiar with IVAN, and it's not it.

The second, also from download.com, was called Silver Island. This is unique in that I know the name of the game, but can't find it anywhere. Seems to be one of those games that just disappeared from the internet altogether. If anyone had a link for that, my boner would be unstoppable.

The last game is another freeware/shareware game where you play a caveman, or some other form of early human. It was sidescrolling, and when you met other humans, you had options of what to say to them. From what I remember, most options ended in getting a spear to the face and dying, but I'd love to try it out again. I believe the game was named after the main character, and I distinctly remember the top option for talking to people being 'I am ____', and even that usually meant spears to the face.

I've got 3, Ill try to write down everything i can remember so I really appreciate any help bros.

The first one was a PC game, somewhere around 1996-1999 maybe. You played as a flying saurcer-ish vehicle (I think), in a kind of birds eye view I dont think it was straight top-down. It was a action game and I remember one of the early, possibly first, levels being in a jungle. I think you could get different weaponry and the level was a bit destructible and being able to set trees and stuff on fire. Sorry this is probably pretty vague.

The next one was a one my sister and I downloaded from the internet so it may not have been a full game/real release or anything. You played as a slighty anthropomorphic red fox, similar to Tails on around 6-8 tall column like islands out in the middle of the ocean. There was one huge tree on a center island. On each of the smaller islands there was a collectable like a big cherry or something and on some werean enemy fox character that looked a lot like yours that would try to push you off, if you fell into the water a shark would eat you. There was also a giant bee flying around the main tree platform you could ride on.

The last game was another downloaded one. It was a Star Wars spoof game. You played as Luke, though his head was replaced with this smiling guy's face and it was always facing the camera no matter which way you turned. It was a Birds eye view perspective similar to early legend of Zelda games and had an overworld. Started off on Tatooine. When you got in a fight you could move around a static screen and shoot at the storm troopers. There was also a platforming segment to reach the mos Eisly cantina I think. On the overworld there was also a Space Shuttle's (like ones we use in real life) cockpit just sitting out there. I think when you went in that it took you to the Death Star. This wasnt Yoda Stories or whatever that one was called.

If anyone recognizes any of those games ill be very grateful.

To jog your memory about the game. From what I googled, it was based on shorts films of the same name, which is geeks shooting their own version of star wars or something. In the game I clearly remember some Storm Tropper enemies. I remember an overhead view stage and a sidescroller one. You could shoot pellets pretty damn fast. The game was also pretty hard, you had (I think) infinite continues, but if you died, you had to restart the entire stage.

Check out the Archival thread once in a while to see if someone finds it. At least, I hope people will be interested in it.

None of those are it. Thinking about it, it may have been more like basketball, but with goals instead. Maybe it was 1 on 1 or 2 on 2. Just a kid when I played it.

They weremostly games on the PC. Available on demo discs. I already found one due to it's popularity; Zax the alien hunter.
Now there's 3 more to go.

1. Very similar to Spelunky. It was one of those colourful games which lets you play a 1 hour trial then you had to buy it. You were a miner inside a cave and you could buy items like dynamite and rope, I also remember lots of jewels.

Next two are demos which only had like 2 available levels.
2. A game about sorcerors and wizards, you could summon monsters and use spells, you also had lifes before you died. I remember it had multiplayer where you could fight against other players and you had a number of lifes before you were dead. Also in the singleplayer campaign the second level had you chasing a wizard which always escaped through a portal. He still has his health and it felt like I could take him down, but the faggot always escaped, kinda like that first boss you're not suppose to beat.

3. This one had a weird horror-like atmosphere to it. You had primitive/caveman fighting monsters, the first level you start off in the rain just outside a cave and you have to go in the cave, avoid some patrolling waves and manage to kill the big bear monster. Second level you have to defend the walls and gates from the monsters with your mages and barbarians. It had a tutorial level where you exercise your range, mage, melee units... the tutorial level was voice acted and I remember the voice actor growing frustrated and keeps telling me to press the ~ key, which I had no idea what it looked like and was called at the time.
Overall both of these games felt like they had atmosphere. There were definitely rain effects in there.

This was the first PS1 game and I need to remember it.

You start off in a sewer level and you play as a guy wearing a blue and yellow shirt killing aliens. You can play as other characters but I never got to because I was playing a demo. I remember the disc was green with an eyeball.

Anyone know the game?

I'm the guy trying to find this game. Trying to dig around, I found someone else's description of what sounds like what I'm talking about. Maybe it can help someone think of what it is.

"So the game is a sport game, futuristic or robotic game. Basically, it is a soccer game with super power and the two teams from what I remember was red vs blue. It is a sports game (the camera angle was from the side or wide view) and the players can shoot the ball REALLY hard. It is basically a game of scoring goals into the opponent's net and the ball was made out of some metal and the player all dressed up in super combat gear with armor and stuff and kick (kicking was the action I think) the ball with crazy power. The thing I remember was the ball was able to bounce off the wall, as the venue was in an arena."

Okay, this one might be really vague.

On our old Windows 95 machine, I used to play a shareware or something game that had an isometric perspective. You played a ball, maybe it was a purple ball or maybe it was silver or something, and you rolled around the stage over grey and purple tiles and whatnot. The challenge in the game was partly the way the level was presented, because you had to do things but the tiles might flip or something, and also in that maybe there were hazards?

I vaguely recall something like Bulldog appearing somewhere, maybe as the company that made it, though that could be a false memory.

Help me out there: some sort of a FPS where you played as a mecha. Played it on PC as a demo. 3d, what I distinctly remember is that there were enemy soldiers that were rendered as 2d sprites you could simply crush underfoot as you were a giant mecha. You could also use some sort of an energy knife to fight in melee. I don't remember any more details.

Sprite based top down game, it was an action shooter filled with vehicles ranging from ordinary cars, to technicals to tanks (definite) all the way up to battlemechs (possible false memory).
Rule of thumb was, if there wasn't a live pilot, you could drive it. You'd start out helpless, but within each level, you'd steal or hijack more powerful vehicles until you could take them all on with ease.

It's been bugging me for years man...

There are 2 Playstation games I can somewhat remember but have no idea what they're called
The first one is like Monopoly where you go around a board and buy shit. There were elevators and I think one of the characters was a frog.
The second one was pretty much breakout with boss battles. I'm pretty sure one of the battles was against a woman in a bathtub.

Sadly doesn't look like V2000 is it, id never heard of that game before actually. Its intro looks pretty radical though.

The camera in that game was definitely locked in a specific birds eye view angle. And I believe that the graphics were sprite based, but they seemed pretty nice looking, I remember the jungle level being pretty lush. Though I could be wrong and it may have used 3D graphics, dunno.

First one was a PC adventure game where you were trapped in a museum or something late at night, and there may have been a robot involved as well. I remember it was very dark and spooky looking but that was probably because I was 7.
The second one was another PC adventure game where all I remember of it was that it was in some sort of garden or courtyard with brown brick walls and I was stuck at a gate. It was definitely medieval-themed. It had beige or tan text windows with black text in it I think.

These were both games I thought were super cool at the time, but they were both on school computers and may have been educational, I honestly can't remember.

There was this weird game called Billy the Kid, which you ran around in a top view i guess shooting things or something

I'm sure the name is Billy the Kid or something with that but what I'm asking is if that game was by itself or with others

Because I remember other games having the same look or similar look, one was about being an underwater creature and you had to eat other creatures and survive against others and I think it was a shareware because i couldnt get the whale because i think you had to buy it

Then there was a jungle or rainforest version of the sea game with similar mechanics

I am searching for a Sega Mega Drive game. I hardly remember anything. Only, it was a side scrolling game and you had multiple characters which were Average Joes at least that is what I remember. I can be wrong about this, though. And there was a level in the sewers.
I am sorry for providing such vague information but I don't remember much anymore. I played this once or twice in my whole life.

I've tried asking for this before but I think I'll try again.

I played this playstation game ages ago that was like a sci-fi first person dungeon crawler. I don't think it had a grid like Might and Magic. You start off in a cell too I'm pretty sure. I know it sounds a lot like an elder scrolls game but it was definitely sci-fi.
