Holy crackers! I haven't seen this place since last year when everyone was taking too damn long with their collab park turns and interest died off.

I still have the old general text saved to a notepad and the latest save for the "no borders" park, though at least 2 of the other members of it are dead / unresponsive and have been for months now.

Since it looks like people are doing collab parks again, may be able to get that running again to finish it up.

I used to get boats stuck all the time. I haven't built any in a while, but when I do build them I try to give them a relatively small but spacious area to paddle around. To my knowledge the size of their re-entry point doesn't really matter, so long as it's easily accessible.

Just keep the area small (not claustrophobic) and sweet, and it's okay to have decorative bits like that island in mine.

I've tried my hand at remaking real life rides. This one was fairly difficult because there's weird angles on the real thing that don't translate to RCT's 90/45 degree turns. But I've rode this thing at least 25 times so I gave it a try.

Two questions:

1) Am I comfy yet /vr/ct?

2) What's the job market for EE majors in the rollercoastering business? I just had an epiphany that working with rollercoasters is what I want to do someday, and was wondering if any of you guys had an idea about what kind of people typically get hired by those kinds of companies.

>EE majors in rollercoasting business
Of all of the engineering disciplies (aside from chemical and the specialized ones), EEs are the least employed. Most of the employees at coaster design firms are going to be MechEs or CEEs working on the design or analytics of the structure.

That said, there definitely is a lot of electrical work that is needed as every modern roller coaster needs electrical work around the track as well as a central system that controls dispatches, loading, unloading, etc etc. Usually these are small teams and they may even do some of the analytics or design work as well.

If you're not able to find work with a coaster firm, there's still a lot of aspects of the amusement park industry you can work in. There are a plethora of smaller/flat ride companies (Huss, Zamperla, Vekoma, Sally Corp, etc) or you can even work directly in a specific park's in-house engineering team.

>> No.1581810

>>1581804
I figured MechEs would be more likely to find employment in that field. I'm still a year from finishing my undergrad program so it's not like I would end up going straight to one of those companies anyway.

>> No.1581831

>>1581810
Yeah, it's very much an industry that requires a lot of work experience before qualifying for a job. Probably one of the best chances you could get at being hired would be to get maybe 5-10 years of work experience and build up a creative portfolio and send it out to Disney or Universal. If you're able to do EE work as well as draft up creative ideas, they'll love you for it.

It's a very selective but very fun and unique industry.

I love those smal alpine coasters but their major problem is overcrowding. Its just not fun when you have 3 guys in front who all go at minimum speed.

The ones without rails are a little more dangerous. I once burned my arm from friction after i fell over from not leaning into a turn correctly. Fun times.

ive managed to get a few bobsleds into 6+ excitement. i think the only thing that got pic related into 6+ was all the tunnels.

even though i put a brake where the arrow points, and i had the ride going for awhile, im sure its only a matter of time before people go flying to death where i circled. i think bob sleds and water slides have claimed the most lives out of stuff ive built.

Personally, if I were to tweak your ride, like I said, I'd add a bit more track before your first brake run, and I ALWAYS always try it so that it the trains run into the block brakes at a natural, safe speed of ~15 < 25 mph in case of brakes failure.

Last question. Is it ok to hit a camel hump fast enough its still going 20ish at the top?

>> No.1588551

>>1588545
No, that's still not right. The g forces depend on the radius of curvature. The 60 degree to 45 degree to 0 degree transition pieces will yield the same g forces regardless of extra flat pieces. All you can do is limit the speed of the train going through there, which in this case means lowering the drop height.

Refer to the g forces, always. With a target force, you can test to work backwards to the desired speed/height for any element. The forces you can get away with depend on the coaster. Generally, they will begin to affect excitement values even before turning red. Woodies are inherently more intense so you need to be a bit more restrictive. That 3.94g at a few points is what wrecked your excitement. Cut it down to 3gs and you should be good.

For one thing the slope on the checkered roof is flush against the rest of the roof, whereas on the green roof it's raised a level.

The front end has the bit where the tracks come in, but it's quite different to the other side where they come out. In my opinion it would be better if the entrances were on the south west facing wall, with the building being mirrored along the SW/NE line. Or alternatively, you changed the colour scheme to make it look less like it's supposed to be mirrored, and altered the checkerboard side (maybe opening it out) to give a more varied look to the design.
