Has anyone here had any good luck at a Goodwill recently?

The stores around here have shitall, and when they get the rare piece of vidya, it's Super Mario/Duck Hunt and they want $10 for it. I haven't had any decent luck in nearly a decade at these stores.
Are there any other thrift stores in your neck of the woods where you've had good finds?

Salvation Army is the only chain thriftstore still under prices video games. Goodwill has goodwill.com which is straight up terrible. If you're lucky you might have auction cases at your local goodwill. A Kitty of people Butch about them but they're a lot better than goodwill.com because you're only competing against local bidders, you don't have to pay for shipping, and a lot fewer retards handle your merchandise and get a chance to damage it.

By and large though, most places price video games according to eBay so you night as well save tour gas money and get exactly what you want on eBay.

Its a good place for PC games, no one ever checks those. Though they often price them by the case, so multi-disc games when spread out across several cases can cost quite a bit. I don't go to the Goodwill in my town because it's in a location that sucks for me to get to. I do, however, live right near two thrift stores owned by churches. One of them has a bunch of PS2 and XBox games (of which I recently picked up GTA3 and Guitar Hero 2 for nice and cheap), but I've also seen all kinds of old PC games there. One that I bought for $1 and got working in Win7 is Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.

The other thrift store in my neighborhood had Tie Fighter. It play well enough on this old-ass laptop running XP, but the sound is a total bag of dicks. I remember reading some blogs about how to get that game running in Win7, but it involves downloading files from websites that no longer host them.

Back on topic, the best /vr/ find I've had at that particular thrift store was pic related. $3 for the whole package, and it works well enough for me.

I happen to work at a Goodwill and I had the best luck this week: 6 N64 gaymes (12$) (Mario 64, Waverace, Cruisin World and USA, Mario Kart and Star Wars Shadows), A WORKING N64 Controller (2$) (as in the Analog is not worn out), a 20 CD case with 15 PS1 games (4$) (6 I had, 2 didnt work, but the ones I wanted worked great, so fuck yar!), and Smash Bros Melee (2$). Thats only some of what I managed to snag overall.
And no, I do NOT hide the stuff so only I can grab it (I really should though...). I just keep my eyes peeled and pray I get out there before someone scoops up the goods. A couple of years back I found a mint Shenmue at $2.4

When the stupid fucking employee tore the shrinkwrap to check for discs, she used A FUCKING CUTTER

She scratched about 2cm of the back cover before I screamed "NO!" so loud everybody in a 50m radius stopped dead.

She handed me the double case trembling, I checked the discs and paid.

Stupid bitch.

Usually I defend the auction cases but your store is obviously lazy as fuck not separating that into at LEAST three lots - it should be five or six, maybe even seven or eight considering how many PS2s are stacked up.

By putting it in one huge lot like that, only resellers will bid on it.

Goodwill industries targets communities that already have thrift stores and true charities that benefit the immediate community.
oh why would you support a for-profit place like goodwill when there exist places like salvation army?
only benefits cheap assholes like resellers and people who think of themselves as saints for
dropping their garbage off at the door.
Goodwill probably bases their prices off
online auctions anyway, not to mention flea markets are were the real deals are
You cant tell me there is anything special about the place, or even thrift stores in general.

I live in Florida so we have dick-all for things in the way of stuff in thrift stores and flea markets. The last time I got anything good for a reasonable or insanely good price was about 2 years ago or so when I got a ton of stuff at a garage sale for $50 which included a boxed copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day, a Saturn Action Replay, and a bunch of $20+ Saturn games. The only other time was roughly around then when I picked up a boxed copy of Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em for roughly $2, and then from the same guy, a 3DO with a bunch of games and a (non-working) Odyssey2 with a bunch of games (mostly boxed, even if they were all beat up) for $125. you have to think - some day or another someone for any random reason is going to cum in and sell off their collection.
