Finally got some games for this bad boy.

>Die Hard Arcade
>Sim City 2000
>Mystaria: The Realms of Lore

Gonna pick up Darius Gaiden and Magic Knight Rayearth too. How am I doing?

>> No.1565632

P. good. Check out Wipeout 2097 and Panzer Dragoon Saga if you have a lot of money or a modchip.

Wouldn't it be easier just to get the action replay cart? I don't know how to solder things.

Nice selection of games! I remember playing Die Hard in the arcade back in the day! Try to get the light gun and Virtua Cop!

Die Hard Arcade is cool, though overrated in my opinion.
Sim City 2000 is nice if you don't mind it being slow. Actually, I like it that way, you can't cheat by skipping through 40 years to get money.
Mystaria is okay if you like the genre and don't mind the butt ugly CG characters. The framerate is a bit low though.
In the Hunt is an awesome shmup, but very short paced.
Darius Gaiden is one of the best shmups released outside Japan on the Saturn (the others would be Parodius PAL, and Galactic Attack). Extremely psychedelic graphics and music, good balance, creepy as fuck boss fights, and different courses to play on so no two playthrough is the same. It's not just a good shmup, but also one of the best Darius games.

Haven't played Magic Knight Rayearth much. It's an OK rpg game, though some people hate it for the translation.

Play Asia still sell those things somewhat cheap if you are looking for one of those...

Golden Axe is pretty mediocre, but mostly because it is overshadowed by superb ports of Capcom and SNK 2d fighters. I don't think it's worth 30$, but I don't know how rare it is.

Nights is okay, just not as magical as some people say. It's a typical Sonic Team game - except that you control almost exclusively on a fixed 2d path, so you don't have camera and control issues.
Some people say the analog controller makes it easier to control, I haven't noticed any differences at all (you still do "smooth" turns, not instant ones, so the difference is little).

Don't bother with the driving wheel unless you absolutely love driving games. It's impossible to sell that thing because of its weight.

Dunno much about Soul Hackers, I imagine it's only really enjoyable if you can moonspeak.

Also, for Sim City 2000, it has some extra graphics, like an entire futuristic building set, not in the PC version. And FMV views for all house types which is cool. BUT, you really, really need an extra Memory cart because 1 save takes up the entire internal memory. Action Replay works, but you'll have to manually copy over all your saves with that, which is a chore, but you can do infinite money saves with that.

It may seem a cop out that you need so much internal memory to save, but considering the size of the cities, it's nothing short of magic that they managed to fit it in the 32 kilobyte internal save ram (as I recall the PC saves are way bigger).

oh, it also adds a new theme song over the PC title, which actually is quite nice.
And, read the credit list, it's hilarious.

AR carts do region fuckery easily, but as far as playing burned games, I dunno. Never tried to do the swap trick with one.

>> No.1565825

I would definitely recommend Darius Gaiden over Magic Knight Rayearth. If you are going to get a Zelda-style game on the system, Legend of Oasis or Dark Savior are much better bets, and cheaper.

Die Hard is great to play with friends if you've got some around. It's good goofy fun. In the Hunt is a fun shmup as well, but really hard.

NiGHTS (and maybe the 3D controller) is the only thing in that selection that would really be worth trying out. I was never big into NiGHTS myself, but I think it's a decent enough game (that has some really ugly 3D though).

If you actually do give a shit about the machine, you can easily reach the point where you'll have most of the games you play on originals, at which point you won't need modchips.

That's part of the reason why I'm selling the remaining modchips I had, needed to take the last one out of my primary machine - but half the games I regularly play I have on original discs, so not a big loss.

5/10 troll but you missed one thing. How will you play those other "half the games I regularly play" once you get rid of all your mod chips?

I've never seen it go for over $20 on Ebay. That's a ripoff if I've ever seen one. You can get the localized 3DS version for less than that.

I'd like to give people some fair warning by saying Mr. Bones is absolute shit. Don't buy it.

bit of a bump, too. been playing more Dark Savior. The fugly 3D mine cart level dampened my enthusiasm quite a bit, but the game has got some charm and fun to it.
