Is DKC2 still the best Donkey Kong game?

You know, I could understand them having Diddy and Dixie in 2, just to mix things up a bit. But to not bring back DK in 3 was a huge fuckup. Not only that, but we lost Diddy as well. I mean shit, the series is called Donkey Kong Country and you can only play as DK in one of them.
