Those lateral gs would probably snap your neck. Never put tight or unbanked turns at the bottom of hills. Either use wide banked turns or make sure the train is going slow enough so the lateral gs won't go into the red. Suspended coasters are tricky because you can't bank them so you need to be extra careful about the turns.

As far as improving your designs, look at what you have now. You have 4 lift hills and not much actual track. Make a bunch of hills and turns and stuff after your lift so the train slows down to like 10-20 mph before adding another lift hill or bringing it back into the station.

The trains swing around the track but I'm pretty sure it still calculates the forces like it was a regular coaster. Wish they included banked track for it.

Bit of neat history: the original suspended coaster was a colossal failure because they didn't bank the turns and it absolutely killed the trains and track and was only open for 2 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sg-OWKFyp8A

Oh good god.
There's one still operating at Cedar Point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cwUMqSWSmU
It's actually the least intense coaster in the place. You could practically eat a meal on it. The laterals blend into each other and there's only one spot (right after the second lift) where the cars really jerk to the side. Suspended swinging coasters should be more about helixes and curves than giant drops.

It seems that the real-life standard for suspended swinging coasters is a lift, one drop, a fuckton of curves with a general downhill slope, and another lift once the momentum is sapped away. Rinse and repeat to the station.

It's worth noting, though, that this effect can be of no harm. An increase in mass could only mean a decrease in post-acceleration velocity, which is a lower final height after conservation of energy. If it doesnt go off the track during testing, it will not go off with riders, unless some safety cuts out.

Not if it's an unclosed circuit, such as powered launch. If an empty train has just barely enough energy to get to the top of a slope, then a loaded train can get a bit further. And if there's no further track, then the front car's gonna go over the edge.

Thats not how conservation of energy works. h=v^2 / 2g, regardless of mass. Mass is a factor is when you have a segment of fixed length and fixed force where the higher mass yields a lower final velocity at the end of the segment.

AHAHAHA. Mass determines the normal force with the track, which is THE ONLY THING that affects friction (excluding material). Further, friction acts against the the train speeds, meaning it only reduces the maximum height even more.

I filled up up a large part of the map that was being unused until now and and opened it up to guests. Now my park rating is dipping and the number of guests is declining (It was at 3,900). There's no outstanding guest complaints other than 100 or so saying they feel sick or need a bathroom.

Hey guys. I feel like an idiot for asking, but is there a way to change the pricing scheme in RCT2? The FAQ says to choose one, but it seems like I can only go with what the park is set with. Even if I set the park to free entry, I can't change the ride admission price. Is there no way to change this without cheating? If there is, how do I do it? Thanks!

>> No.1544821

Yea, it's hardcoded. If you have the option to set the park entrance fee, you don't have the option to set ride fees. And vice versa.
It's kind of a letdown that they limited it like this, among many other things, in RCT2.

I used 8 Cars to set it to powered launch mode and pushed the launch speed as high as possible. It seems willing to go just a little past 512 mph (I don't know what the internal unit is to figure out the actual max), but its limited by the train length as the train will only be accelerated while in the station. Because of that, it only reached about 200mph before heading down the 425ft hill.

I just tried boosting the chain speed and using a long chain to launch the train to a hopefully higher speed, but the chain is much slower to accelerate.

I'm going for speed, not intensity.

Here's the result of making a long chain run through three map-width long segments. It maxed out at 272 mph, accelerating at .8 Gs the whole way (which is quite amusing to watch, and happens to take 9.81 seconds, also amusing). It lost speed hitting the top of the drop, though, and didnt gain substantially more as it fell.

I want to see this through to its absolute limits. What coaster type allows the longest train (not just in cars, but actual length)?

So, I need help/advice from you guys.

You all ever remember me saying how this old toastertop of mine seems to overheat and shut down whenever I play RCT for too long? Well, it's only getting worse, to the point where sometimes I can't play for longer than five minutes before it craps out on me. I even have one of those cooling pads for it to sit on and it's not doing a whole lot to help.

What are my options as far as extending the life of my laptop? I don't have the money for a new PC or I would have done that by now, and there isn't a place near me getting rid of any computers for me to swoop up. I've thought about taking it apart and dusting out the insides except that I'm not sure I could correctly put it back together properly.

You might be able to just take off the keyboard and dust the fan from there (use canned air). If not, you'll have to take it apart. It's not that hard, depending on the laptop. You should only have to take out a few screws and pull the top or bottom plastic casing off. Check to see if your internal fan is even running. It's also possible the thermal paste on your CPU's heatsink has worn out, so you'd have to buy some and re-apply it, provided you feel comfortable doing that/can even access it easily.

>> No.1546020

I've never applied paste on a laptop, but they say it's best to put a pea-sized blob in the center of the CPU, then place the heatsink as level as possible, then gently wiggle it a bit to spread the paste better.

Also try running SpeedFan to see if it's your CPU that's overheating, or something else. If anything gets over 90C, that's pretty freakin bad.

Look at the design of real coasters for shapes (dive loops, cobra rolls, twisting, etc), and study the g-force graphs to tune heights for appropriate speed. Aim for 3-3.5 max positive vertical gs, 1-2 max negative vertical gs and 1.5-2 max lateral gs. If excitement is shit, make the ride longer. If intensity is too high, lower your max gs and/or reduce the number of drops (use fewer longer drops) and inversions.

Start with those guidelines and you'll get a better understanding as you practice.

Without opening up that park, I know a common method for doing water rides is to merge it into a mini-roller coaster track and then make that track invisible. That's the method most people use for rapids.

So in that picture (from what I can see), it goes from a 4d track to a heartline track to a mini-rc track which would be turned invisible.

Dared what? Make it in RCT? You can't. It's a very precise design to achieve a constant 10 Gs.

>> No.1547832

>>1547763
Yeah, so the best way to do stuff like that is to first create the track that will be having the train running on it, so in your example it would be the giga track. Once you have that, start 10 or 15 feet above the giga track and build the decorative track. The big thing about that though is that you need to build it backwards. So start at the top of the lift and build it sloping downwards. One that is in place, use either the Edit Ride Stats or Map Object Manipulation to lower the decorative track into place.

I had a video pulled up on my phone that walked me through taking it apart, I just did the reverse to put it back together. Less of a nightmare than I expected, although I kind of cheated out since I didn't fully take the laptop apart. The top cover where the keyboard rests wasn't detaching from the bottom panel in some places I couldn't get to and I didn't want to risk breaking it, so I juts hit what I could with canned air.

I pulled up SF real quick right after exiting the game and it said most things were running around 60C, which is a lot better than the 70 or even 80 it used to pull.

I decided to have a look about at how RCT3 handles RCT2 tracks.

So I decided I would make a simple track that has high intensity and deadly g's.

I made the coaster in RCT2 and called it John, I then imported it to RCT3,I then placed it down in the track designer, I then made a copy of the track by hand in RCT3 (The red one in the picture)

After this, I tested them both, you'll see the results in the picture, I'm baffled at why the RCT2 one has greater values as the tracks are identical (They look a bit different in the picture but thats due to a shitty angle)

Im still sceptical if the PC version will be any fun.

IMO Rct2 was the best point of the series. The Adons to it alteady have a worse artstile.
Rct3 is Ok but has sone technical problems and the art of it isn't everyones favorite. The adons are Ok too but take the focus of the core of the series. For me the custom scenary is what makes RCT3 still somehow nice to play.
Never play'd RCT3D but i guess it wouldn't be worth the time. RCT4M topps that.

RCT4 for PC will have to be extremely good to compensate for that, but mostlikely it won't.
