Hi /vr/

Not long ago I tried to play Warcraft II, but the control felt too bad for me, the graphics too outdates and the game, in overall, too old. Is there a mod or pack of mods which can improve my experience playing it?

It's almost the same as Starcraft except without built queues
>the graphics too outdates
>>>/v/
>the game, in overall, too old
then why even bother playing it?

no

i think that anon is really just saying that considering your opinions on warcraft 2, the only way you'd enjoy warcraft is if you moved on to 3. maybe it wont be too outdated or old for you

>> No.1534432

did you play the original or battle.net edition?

bnet version doesn't have all the convenient features of modern rts ui, but it does make changes compared to the original. like ctrl groups.

yeah the game is aged but it's still fun to revisit. best soundtrack of any game ever too.

I really should check that Battle.net version. I think I played the original in the past.

Thanks for the tip.

no problem. the game is still fundamentally the same, but the subtle changes might make it less painful for you to play.

>> No.1534572

A mod increasing the resolution/viewing range could be nice. The graphics themselves were fine for their time and I don't think they need to be changed.
the controls were revolutionary back then, BNE added a bunch of extra improvements. It's not as automatable as later games but should still be playable for normal players.
Try Warcraft 1 to see how 2 improved on it in various fields.

I think if you feel this game is outdated you're very likely to be a massive casual.

WC1 is clunky, but even that is playable just fine, I just beat it first time last year in fact, after beating 2 (which I beat after 3).

If you can't handle 2 you might as well quit gaming before 6th gen.

>> No.1534609

I agree that its an outdated game. Like most old strategy games, the gameplay is done better by newer games.

But bad controls? Bad graphics?

What the fuck is wrong with you. Don't you have to be 18 to use 4chan?

OP here, >>1534432 already answered my question, so you can quit complaining about everything and go back to /v/, where fun is banned and everybody is as
lovable as you.

I was just asking for a mod or something similar which can improve the UI, and the B.net version already does that.

And, yeah, guys, I know Starcraft, we all do, I've been playing it since it came out to this very day, thanks for the info.

I was actually wondering about whether there's a mod for that too, like there is for the old Command and Conquer games.

If you had told me 15 years ago that I could one day play Red Alert with the kind of resolution like in pic related, I'd probably have shit my pants. It was definitely not intended to be played this way, but it is fun.

And I know there wasn't a whole lot of strategy to the C&C games besides spamming tanks and air units, I still love those games to death though.

OpenRA isn't a mod, it's an engine recreation.

here's a good board for you:

www.4chan.org/v

Or if you're interested in playing the original Warcraft, it was ripped off a tabletop game (ie, not a video game) called Warhammer. Learn more here:

What do you expect when someone comes here and says a game is old and outdated?

It's like going to /a/ and saying everything is too Japanese.
