Duck Tales 2 so high (and actually above Duck Tales 1) makes me happy. Looks like it's not as underrated as I thought.

If course there is quite a lot of bullshit in this list though we could endlessly talk about.

This being said, if we don't know exactly HOW the list was made ('data from the internet' and 'algorithms' doesn't actually say anything) and from what sources, it's all pointless.

Yeah, and quite a lot of the games mentionned were never released on NES and are famicom exclusives.

Also,

>So you're just posting every single nes game that isn't garbageware?

Forgot to say. That's far from every worth playing game on NES. Just a random example, only one Batman game is mentionned even though all 3 NES Batman games (Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Vs The Joker) are worth playing. Just a random example though, could name plenty others. The list is also quite racist as not a single PAL exclusive has been mentionned but that's probably due to how OP only used data from the English speaking side of the internet (if he REALLY put some data together)

A lot of games on the list either don't exist for the NES (ex. SMB Lost Levels, Earthbound) or are absolute shit (ex. Ghostbusters, Monopoly).

I liked the overhead sections of Blaster Master more than their side scrolling ones. Not saying that Fester's Quest isn't bad, just that isn't too bad compared to other games. If it just got rid of the weapon downgrades, and let your shots go through the walls like in the PAL version, it would be better. Also if you could start at the last boss you beat and not the very beginning. They did this because you can only get some items again by going back to the house you got them from, but if the game was smart to restock your items after each boss fight, it should be smart enough to do it after each Game Over, so you don't have to start at the very beginning of the game to get them back

SNES respects the PAL standard and displays "50Hz" games at 50Hz, same as PS1, so the flicker will be just as obvious.

NES actually ignores the standard and displays "50Hz" at 53Hz, so the flicker is less bad but still obvious.

Unless you were playing a PAL game, on a PAL console, with a PAL monitor/TV compared to the NTSC version of that game with NTSC console and TV, I'd take your observation with a grain of sals compared to how PAL actually looks correctly hooked up.

I'd personally love to test it out myself since I have multiple PVM monitors that accept NTSC, PAL, and SECAM, but all my consoles and games are NTSC so I can't do an accurate test.

I doubt a cheat cartridge can switch a console's video output, and if it can, I doubt that it's a quality way to do that.

Do it with a PAL game and console.

Also, the 1084 was built from the ground up as a multi-format NTSC/PAL monitor. It wasn't specifically designed for PAL.

Juryrigging a 60Hz console to output 50Hz doesn't sound like quality to me. And it sounds like you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting a PAL console and game to do the test.

I'm mostly familiar with the older consoles where the main CPU was slowed down in the PAL versions and you have to physically rewire the console to get it to display a different format. Would be interesting if the Playstation can be changed by software, but that still leaves the problem of playing an NTSC game that's not optimized for 50Hz on a PAL monitor.

It is the exact same quality. I used RGB output so there's no possibility of it being any different. And I did use a PAL console (modded). And I have a few PAL demo discs, and those look identical to NTSC forced to PAL in software.

"Optimized" only means the game speed and aspect ratio is corrected. The refresh rate cannot be corrected because it is fixed at 50Hz, so it will always flicker more than 60Hz. Human flicker perception is non-linear so 50Hz flicker is about twice as annoying as 60Hz.

Well maybe the two or three TVs I used just happened to be utterly magical.

Some PS games flicker very noticeably in PAL, some less so.

We are just going in circles in this debate.

You probably grew up watching TV on 50Hz CRTs, so you became desensitized to it, like Americans became desensitized to 3:2 pulldown. The flicker is very obvious if you look at what's really there instead of what you expect to be there.

>Some PS games flicker very noticeably in PAL, some less so.
If there color scheme is dark on light then the flicker will be more obvious. You'll notice most arcade games use a light on dark color scheme to reduce the appearance of flicker.

You'd have to be an idiot to think that a game never released in America is better than the flagship title that kicked off an immensely popular series, "according to the internet."

You really don't see how whatever idiotic method OP used could be fucked up since so many people referred to FFVI as FFIII?

Except every FF has been re-released to tears. Playstation, GBA, PSP, and even mobile. Of course, I am an idiot. So part of your argument still stands.
