Nice. Not sure about the rarity of AES games since the carts were always expensive and they have since become collector's items, but of course it depends on what they are.

As for the rarest (non-prototype, since those aren't allowed for some reason) game I own, perhaps either my Japanese Splatterhouse PCB, my Gradius II PCB (with two art cards and operator's manual), or my JP SFII WW PCB that has a game revision that I believe holds a revision that has only been dumped within I think the past year or so (which I guess makes it a rare revision).

Honestly, though, I have no idea how rare most arcade PCBs truly are, so take it with a grain of salt.

Aside from my prototypes and pre-production games, I'd say my pirated Pokemon carts for the Gameboy.

Vietnamese Crystal (the one with drugs, swearing and the Pokemon are all called "elfs"), a pirated version of Pokemon red, and some weird Sonic clone with Pikachu. Nothing too special, but they're pretty hard to come across based off of what I know.

If consoles are included: GB Boy Colour (GBC Clone with a backlight), and my Nintendo 3DS kiosk console (not a special edition, just never given to the public).

Not rare atm (can be easily bought for around 5 bucks), but it's a very fun and very scary game.

However (sorry for speculating), I do believe within the next few years PS2 and Xbox survival horror games will rise in price due to playability and the genre in general just being timeless (hell games like Kuon, Rule of Rose, and Haunting Ground are already fucking expensive)

Probably English PAL Terranigma. As far as I know it had very little coverage in magazines and a low print, although German versions seem much more common. I found my copy online. Incredibly, the game store was within 50 miles of where I live. The owner showed me pictures of the game, and it was in amazing shape, so I thought it over and realized it was now or never. So I bought it. My dream is to own every officially licensed NES game sold to U.S. market.

As for tips... I just got lucky, myself. I Googled it under the shopping tab when I discovered it. You just have to keep a sharp eye and not give up on your hunt. It won't be easy to find. Do an internet search every now and then.

The PAL version is much more common. My version is indeed the NTSC version. I paid $4,000 for it. It will be a family air-loom to be treasured by my little nieces long after I'm gone. I'm not sure I could ever sell it. But if I did, the person would have to make me a KILLER offer.

I remember when MTG cards were hot and I got a Mox Emerald. Looking at it now, some 14 to 15 years later when as far as I can tell MTG isn't booming like it was in the 90s, it seems to sell for 3-4 times what was paid for mine. Even when the bubble bursts people will still pay a lot for rare games, because let's face it, the people who actually buy big ticket games and not overpay for common ones are actual collectors who will always exist.

Predator is pretty bastardy, but I'd say Total Recall is worse by far.
I could never even get like 10 minutes in that game.

Also, my SNES collection. Not pictured: my copy of ZOOL, Ninja from the Nth dimension.
That game is pretty fucking cool.
I'd like to get Uniracers. I think that's about the only SNES game that I don't have, that I want.

Just realized I don't have a damn Super Mario Bros. 2. Dunno where my copy walked off to.

throwing some money on my paypal to pick up something rare in the next few weeks.
in your personal opinion, which of these games is the most fun to play? it's a toss up between getting two or three semi-rare games like gargoyle's quest 2 + sunset riders and maybe duck tales 2, or should I go full blown rare and get something like Hagane or E.V.O. ?

Final Fight Guy

I played the shit out of it as a child so it's not near mint or anything. My babysitter gave it to me when I was a kid because he had two copies for some reason, but he only gave me the cartridge. The thing is when I was a kid I was a bit autistic about this stuff and I saved all the game boxes and manuals and stuff, so I probably would have saved the box two. Oh well. Feels cool knowing I have one of the top ten rarest games for SNES.

I have those both in a box, complete. The few SNES things that I have left. too bad I can't even check if the batteries still work. The boxes are banged up a bit. But I moved a lot. The other SNES games I have are Super Castlevania 4 (my sister threw all the packaging away). and Skuljagger. I know i's not rare and no one likes it, but a friend gave it to me. It had the comic and everything. And once again, my sister threw all the packaging away. How this happened I don't know. She's pretty stupid

I have Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4 for Sega Genesis. But I'm not sure if they are rare. I also have the PSX Lunar games complete. I have a couple of non retro things that are a bit rare too. I now allow no one to touch or borrow anything ever. It's too expensive to replace things.

A lot of these NES and SNES games pictured I had rented at one point. Back then I would have had no idea what would become rare. I did have a copy of Tengen Tetris at some point. Probably from Game Gallery. At one point I had a lot of Tengen games.

Don't know if rare, but I have a complete set of maracas for the Dreamcast. Both sets are in their original boxes. I own a few more rare games for Dreamcast and other systems but I never see mention of Samba De Amigo maracas. Also, I have one of those official Sega replacement clear cases for the Dreamcast. Looks really nice. Been using it since back in 2000.

sunset riders is fun coop, not too much single player. also i think snes is a bit better then gens.
hagane i never really liked. i remember renting it way back and thinking it was gonna be like ninja gaiden.

duck tales 2 is kinda just the first one all over again, i know sequel and all that, but i never enjoyed playing the second one after the first.

this is amazing advice, i just checked and i guess it's like 95% english anyway, so you'd be a fool to buy the ntsc version over the famicom unless you're autistic about collecting (which i'm not, I just enjoy playing on original hardware).

looks like i can snag hagane and some others at the same time

It's actually great advice for any SNES action game. SFC prices haven't gotten utterly bloated like SNES prices have... yet. So you can save a lot of money on games that don't require much, if any, Japanese fluency.

I've met and traded with big-time game dealers. One guy I trade with has owned a full set of licensed/sold to U.S. market NES games twice. However, the both of us have NEVER seen Nintendo World Championships.
