>> No.1474579

I don't know why, but I have this fixated idea/assumption that the people who do this are assholes. Bonafide assholes, completely judging them off of ads like this.

When a price is that high they're obviously just relying on the ignorance of a buyer, they have the internet at their disposal so there's no excuse. Literally taking advantage of them in front of their face, or in these cases, intending to.

I'm sorry but I'll never understand the "free market businessman" mentality. You could look up pricing and sell it for slightly more or slightly less than it generally goes for, yet instead you choose to make your own rules at the cost of others (those you take advantage of because of their ignorance) and yourself (for never making that retarded sale over the net)

I'll never get this kind of money grubbing lifestyle.

how the free market works in relation to /vr/
>AA: wow this game is old, I bet its worth a million dollars.
>AB: wow this game is selling for a million dollars, I wonder if I can get it cheaper?
>AB: yep, its $5 on ebay, I'll get that instead.
>AC: That game sells for a lot, I bet its worth collecting if its this expensive!
>AC: I'll buy it! (didn't check other sources)
>AA: woah, I was right, it is rare! I'll get more and do the same thing.
>later
>AA: well that was a fluke, but I now know there are others who think they're rare too
>AA: I'll just make my money back, maybe a little bit more
And now you know how economic darwinism works.

Not related to pic, but here's a brief ebay language guide:

>HTF/RARE!
Item can be found relatively easy elsewhere
>Like-new condition
The manual or box can be missing or damages, but it plays
>Sold out in stores!
It was the last one left in their store
>NOT [popular keyword 1] [popular keyword 2] [popular keyword 3]
You obviously aren't looking for what I'm selling but please look at it
>ONLY ONE ON EBAY
The molecules are different from all those other ones on ebay, making it unique
>Reserve not met
Mega-faggot. Extra points are obtained the higher above average price the non-reserve price is.

>> No.1474764

If I had the time, I would like to take one of these idiots up on their insane Pawn Stars inspired, old stuff = valuable , cl listings, just to see who I would meet and how they would try to con me in person once I started to back out of the deal or try to haggle. I really am curious to see who finds some old game in the attic and tries to sell it for many multiples of current average value (and yet apparently can't be bothered to make a halfway decent ad).

I'm just bewildered by the pure inhuman ghastliness of this. I'm not even being hyperbolic. I've seen the worst 4chan has to offer, the hopeless, disgusting permavirgin/angry divorcee MRM fucks, the white supremacist bell curve assholes, the outright pedophiles; there isn't anything that takes a cudgel to my flagging faith in our failing species as much as something like this.

This is naked, greedy, disgusting exploitation. At least the fanatics you find on 4chan aren't doing anything other than expressing loathsome opinions anonymously. This fuck proudly declares that he enjoys, really enjoys, taking advantage of idiots in the most egregious and exploitative manner possible.

I mean, I can't think of any conceivable reason why you wouldn't put these up for sale individually at a reasonable price and end up with $400 or so when you'd sold them all.

Stop trying to make me a bitter, hateful person, /vr/. I want to be nice. I want to like people. Please.

Be bitter and hateful. The cold truth is that when even "good" people realize they have a chance to take advantage of you, they will. Let your guard down and you will get fucked. That is one reason I like anonymity. If someone helps you, you know they are really just being helpful and don't have some secret agenda that ends in them fucking you over for their own benefit.

Personally I'd just put them at $5 each w/free shipping, and anytime shipping cost more than $2.40 I'd use some of the profit from selling the others. you'd still make about a grand after all is said and done.

Not Craigslist, or eBay, but one local Savers store has been pricing games more or less on the criteria IF IT'S MARIO, IT MUST BE VALUABLE. Tetris too.

Various games from Game Boy to GBA, to NDS, anywhere from $2-5. Mario games? $15 and up. Only exception I saw was GC Mario Golf for $8.
