Name a good Turbografx or PC Engine game that isn't:
A CD Release
A Shmup
Bonk
A game with a superior release on another console

There aren't another good Vigilante version on consoles. SMS version is good, but PCE is closer to the arcade. Also, Cadash for the same reasons and Break In.

Ninja Spirit, Bloody Wolf, Devil's Crush, Alien Crush, Splatterhouse, Tonma, Nectaris, Shubibinman 2, uh... there are plenty of other good games but you've decided to be a dick and condescendingly eliminate them with your arbitrary criteria to prove god knows what point. Do you even have a point?

Parasol Stars
Military Madness
Alien Crush (Devil's Crush has a MD port but I prefer PCE)
Dragon's Curse (It is a port, but the best port)
Legendary Axe
Neutopia 1 & 2 (Zelda clones, but good ones and you can't play them anywhere else)
Shockman
New Adventure Island

I'm from the post below you. I love Ninja Spirit and Splatterhouse a ton, but technically they're arcade ports. Really good ports though, Ninja Spirit is arguably better on the PCE in some ways. Splatterhouse I worshipped on my TG-16 but now with MAME I'd rather just play the arcade one I think.

Anyways, let the haters hate, more TG-16 for us!

How come? I owned Splatterhouse for the TG-16 for years and beat it several times over. I can't think of why you'd prefer it. He even has the right mask in the arcade version. They did a bang up job on the graphics conversion though, it really isn't that obvious without a side by side comparison.

Honestly, I can't give a proper reason to why.

It doesn't make sense, I know, but I feel more at home with the PCE/TG-16 version.

Maybe it's also partly 'cause where I live the local arcade place didn't had Splatterhouse and my first-approach to the series was a bootleg famicom cartridge of Wanpaku Graffiti.

Well, I think they're good. I dunno what all the hate for Neutopia is about, they're solid games, decent music, decent graphics. Clearly cashing in on Zelda, and many people are like "durr go play Zelda instead" but chances are most people have played the fuck out of most Zelda games. If you like the style of the game and want some more, these are for you. Golden Axe Warrior for the SMS is another that comes to mind.

It's alright, there's also an arcade version but if I recall the TG-16 version improves on it in many ways.

CD game, but I recommend Last Alert. If you get the US version, it has some of the best voice acting in any game, great music, and is a pretty good run and gun commando style shooter.

If you have a SuperGrafx, you MUST get Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Dai Maki Maura). It's a much more accurate conversion of the arcade original overall compared to the Genesis version is--almost to a fault. The graphics are MUCH better, the music arrangements are closer to the arcade, but the controls are exactly like the ones in the arcade version--you can't turn while in midair or ducking.

Is there anything unique to the SG version of G'n'G? I am trying to perfect my selection of games for my home arcade, but I always have trouble deciding what to do with ports. If they offer something new, like a platform specific level, I keep them around. If you could just play MAME and get the real thing, I usually leave them out.

This is a terrible game. I am a big fan of the TG-16 and it's library, and I've owned a TG-16 and a Turbo Duo (Still own it). So I'm not just some dude who emulated all this stuff once and being shitty about it. It's just a really embarrassingly bad game. The music is horrific, the character sprite is an eyesore, platforming is terrible. Go check out a video on youtube of it, you will never speak of it again.
