As a kid I never understood the purpose of this room, that it was just a quick secret and nothing more. I thought the 3 really meant something and spent days trying to find some larger secret.

It has coins in it and the 3 is for Super Mario Bros. 3. Why do you need to read more into it than that?

They sure do, filters are for retards. Either play on a CRT tv or deal with the pixels because all filters look like horrid shit.

>all filters look like horrid shit.

Typical CRT pixel purist dismissal of everything not CRT

You people seriously have some kind of mental defect to think CRTs are any kind of "gold standard" for graphics

>> No.1453356

>>1453341
A decent CRT combined with RGB output from the console provides the best portrayal of the game as it truly looks. Most filters are just arbitrary alterations of the game's look. While I'm sure I will get UR NOSTALGIA comments, I will argue that most people who desire random filters probably grew up after 2D consoles had died and are more used to PS2 and beyond.

>> No.1453392

>>1453330
I don't even "deal" with pixels. The ideal screen is one that doesn't fuck with my image period. That Megaman screenshot up there looks fucking beautiful, to me.

Having an untouched signal is objectively more accurate, as it comes directly from the game console. It's not an opinion to say that modifying your game defies the way developers intended for you to enjoy it.

I don't remember what it's called, but a common thing to do among japanese players is on 2-1 of SMB, when you can break through the ceiling and walk in the area around the HUD, to walk to the left right away and stand Mario over the coin symbol. Then the coin looks like Mario's balls. I Noticed in Warioware smooth moves, 9-volts intro shows him doing this briefly. I feel like I'm one of few who noticed this.

I wish people who argue about filters and CRT, either side of the argument, would shut the fuck up and quit derailing threads with their trivial bullshit
