Because Dixie is actually pretty fun to control, but then you get a big baby with her and David Wise wasn't there to produce the music this time around.

You had her and her boyfriend go through adventure and shit in the last game, and now you get some form of regression because big baby is here to spoil the fun. What's worse is how you get to see them stuck in a crib if you get fucked over and over again.

Before I gave a shit about replaying it, I only played it once at a Pal's house and hated it compared to the two other, but I decided to replay and complete it two years ago because why the fuck not? Turns out to be actually good after some levels. Then you actually get some nice ass music.

They did get him to compose the music for the GBA port, since the biggest criticism the prior two DKC ports had was AWFUL music due to GBA soundchip limitations.

People don't get the subtlety of DKC 3. Dixie - a female - is burdened with a baby. LITERALLY burdened, if you look at her posture when throwing Kiddy. She is there, relatable to every teenaged girl playing the game who is suffering from an unwanted pregnancy.

And Dixie PULLS THROUGH. Despite the burden of her baby, she GOES ON. She doesn't stay at home and sulk, even though her family has 'Left' her to her own devices (Which is to say, Donkey and Diddy were captured). She accepts her baby rather than abandoning it, she takes it with her, and she SUCCEEDS. And eventually, she is reunited with her family.

DKC 3 is teaching young, impressionable girls that NO, they do NOT have to abort their unborn babies. It teaches them that even if their parents are furious, their families WILL get together again. It is telling them that having a baby is NOT the end of their dreams, that they CAN go on and have a life.

DKC 3 is, in short, an interactive Pro Life information campaign.

It took Nintendo fourteen years to publish another game with similar undertones on its consoles. Fourteen years, until Metroid: Other M carried on the flag of life.

Baby characters in games meant to be played by babies (everything Nintendo makes).

I hated it when my sister played that. I was able to get through the whole game with minimal whining (100% completed every level on a few occasions), but she would lose get hurt and make baby Mario cry even on world 1.
