Do people sell on here? I'm tired of supporting the fat cats on Amazon.

Looking at that picture I can actually see for the first time somewhat what they were thinking with the N64 controller.

Take away the handles and it basically still is a SNES controller, and they added in an analogue stick because they didn't want to move the D-pad not knowing how unimportant it would be.

It's still a fuck up, but it makes sense now

Yeah, N64 controller is perfectly logical for a "first ever analog console controller" stand point. It prioritizes one input method over the other, depending on the game. There is no N64 game that uses ALL buttons, because you were only meant to use 2/3rds at any given time.

If you're using analog, L and the D-pad are not used.
If you're using the D pad, Z-trigger and the analog are ignored.

It wasn't the best system, but for making that first leap into 3D, it was a pretty clever idea to handle it. Better than "no anlog" like the PSX had.

I love how that ridiculous picture on comments on how the N64 controller look, and fails to mention that it was the first with an analog stick and rumble support.

Please find the BST thread. I've bought things from people at good prices. Traditionally, sellers that have pricing close to eBay or higher are laughed out

It was a brilliant way to handle it, I can't believe people still throw shitfits about it, you have two ways to hold it, how is more options worse?

Also, you said PSX, so did I, if we're really quiet, the shitposters might not hear it.

Who seriously cares what website you buy games from? There have been lots of times I've found games for a better price on Amazon over eBay for a longshot. You gotta check multiple sources before you buy anything spendy.

We're at the stage where development not only costs a shitload but takes alot longer to finish (unless the game is a short developed cash grab) the exception would be retro-esque games which are the only modern titles I play.
Just look at Final fantasy, we consistently had 3 per retro console that weren't copypasta like 13.

The GC controller was actually a very logical step forward from the N64 controller.

The A button is the primary button, the one you use for jumping, attacking or whatever was your primary action. B, X and Y were just a simple rolling motion of the thumb away. No awkward movements, no need to even lift your thumb up most of the time.

Combined with octagon gate on the joystick and a top- notch D-pad, two analog triggers with lots of resistance and a secondary click on the triggers and one of the first and best wireless variants, the GC controller/Wavebird is probably the best controller out there unless you're into fighting games.

It's my primary PC controller.

GC always was and always will be my favorite controller.
I was playing mario party 6(I think?) the other day and my friends girlfriend had never played a GC and whenever she asked what button to press there were about 3 different ways of explaining which button.
"A", "the green one", or "the big one"
"B", "the red one", or "the little one"

Obviously other buttons don't have as many ways to explain but I thought it was neat that we all thought of a different way to explain the controller.

That's a pretty poor comparison considering it's much easier to move your hand over a keyboard than it is to constantly shift your grip on a controller.

>> No.1452068

>>1452061
I think the point of the example is "just because this thing has a lot of buttons/keys/analogs/dpads/whatever" doesn't mean you're required to use it all at once.

It's like looking at a keyboard before you sit down to play a PC game and saying, "Whoa. that's too many keys to keep track of!" when you're likely to only be using a fraction of them. Same thing here. Most N64 games require the use of only the dpad or the analog, not both at the same time.
