Firebrand is one of those characters dear to me. I remember when my dad brought home Gargoyles Quest 2 when I was in the first grade. He couldn't even make it out of the first city.... I was stuck forever on the Dark Forest and couldn't get past it without asking the qt3.14 older girl down the street for codes from Nintendo Power. Times have changed... He really could have been another Mega Man and had more games. I don't know why Capcom decided to abandon him.

Damn, I finished Demon Crest today and I wanted to say something, but I couldn't think of anything interesting...
He was already too oldschool looking to become a mascot in the 90's, I think. and 3d was eating up everything, so capcom decided to stick to surefire fighters, RE and stuff to keep floating. we all know that capcom have the tendency to do strange things also, so it would have been not surprising even if it was a successful character. the real shame is that Darkstalkers/G'nG/etc. capcomverse is plenty of potential for developing new shit, and it will be never, never developed.
and its kinda nostalgic for me too, since I remember exactly the review of this game on the games magazine I used to read when I was like 13. I wanted to play this so badly

Well at least he appeared as playable in UMVC3, even though the game kinda sucks.

Besides Modern Capcom doesn't care for any character of them that are not from Street Fighter or Resident Evil.

He's not Mega Man/Metool tier, but he's a recognizable enemy from a series that got 3 whole spinoff games and a number of cameos.

He is. The guys in the thread above are actually wrong: the character was very popular, and even now a lot of enthusiasts know who it is. The only reason it's not as well kniwn as Mega Man or Sonic is because there was one sequel in more than 20 years, and only on a portable.

I know he was pretty popular in Japan in the 90's (wasn't there an anime?) but Bomberman. If Bomberman were to appear in SSB4 I'd buy a Wii U or at least a 3DS in an instant.

No, they weren't. The two 16-bit Jim games were subpar platformers with great graphics. They were the epitome of style over substance.

And, although the quality of art was very high, the juvenile lolsorandumb aesthetic left much to be desired. It wasn't strange or special, it really was just random. Oh a lawyer in hell, oh my sides, oh lo rofl easily worth the hideous collision detection and incomprehensible stage design.

Related to that, Zero the squirrel. He starred in an actually good game unlike Aero and had a cool style about him with the bandanna and the bomber jacket. Made some Bruce Lee sounds when attacking and was just generally likeable and entertaining.
