Hey
Heavy Metal themes in games
Games that feature heavily
>Bikini babes
>Magic babes
>Dragons and babes
>Robots with tits
I grew up on Conan, Red Sonja, and Heavy Metal. These kinds of games are basically my arc reactor.

It's more closely related to two things: the fact that anime-style covers are rarely changed anymore, and the trend for the game industry to focus on big dumb epic fantasy rather than the sort of dirty, gritty sword & sorcery that artists like Frazetta and Vallejo are usually associated with.

TGL is pretty much the second or third best game on the NES... And that is saying a lot.
The NES has some of the greatest games ever.

The best part, is that TGL should have never been made, and was almost impossible to imagine the concept of mashing Zelda, Metroid, and Galaga actually working.

Yeah. I have seen this. Why the fuck is it a heavy metal pinball game? I LOVE the styling, but I just don't like pinball vidya. I like pinball, just not in vidya form.

>The best part, is that TGL should have never been made
why?
>and was almost impossible to imagine the concept of mashing Zelda, Metroid, and Galaga actually working.
again, why?
the video game market was a lot more experimental in the first half of the NES's life, I don't understand what you are even trying to get at

>> No.1393460

>>1393457
Thats what I was saying. In any sane and stable market, it would have never been made. Never been funded.

pretty much a mash up of a bunch of game styles that the devs just mashed together and prayed would work.

>But it would be a thousand times worse because TGL is a thousand times more unique and we live in a shit time.

sorry to interupt the circle jerk that you are trying to start, but I personally think that the inovativeness that we saw in the 80s and again in the late 90s in video games has been coming back. But you can call me what ever /vr/ uses in place of pleb if you like. I'm sure you will.

this board is for talking about retro games, not circle jerking over how much better they are than modern games... in fact the no talking about modern games period rule was made up simply to stop that shit.

I've seen much crazier concepts get funding thanks to the internet.... I wish you cynical bastards would just stfu, ty

That would be great if it were true. I personally think that games are both getting better and worse these days. The best games are even better, the worse games aren't awful in the traditional sense, but the quality is dropping in other ways.

follow up to TGL could be done, and Compile would probably do a decent job. But who the fuck knows. It will never happen.

While it might be ripoff, it's from a japanese flyer of the game, so it's related.

A poor choice for the cover though, doesn't depict the game as well like the other releases do.
