Are there any other good, retro third-person shooters? I really loved JFG and the various planets and shit, but it seemed like a one of a kind game.

Operation Winback was the seminal cover shooter.
Conker's Bad Fur Day had some third person shooter sections.
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.
Mission Impossible. (Not exactly "good" but it wasn't THAT bad.)
Shadow Man. (Avoid PS1 version like cancer.)

MDK is a fun and at times wacky 3rd person shooter.

Also Shadowman is more of an acton/adventure game rather than being about shooting guys.

Not retro, but try Ratchet and Clank. JFG is pretty much the prototypical R&C game in the way that you have several different, fun weapons and you get to travel across loads of different planets. It's hard as hell though, but it's pretty fun if you're good at it.

While I can certainly understand why some people do not like this game, it was a 4-player staple for my friends and I after we had our fill of goldeneye. At least until we got perfect dark. I still enjoy the campaign to this day. Hey, at least it's cheap. I still can't find a copy of majora's mask for under $40.
