Just got the Megaman Anniversary collection. Yeah, I don't have an NES, so sue me.

I had Megaman 4 back in the day on my gameboy, but otherwise I've only briefly played the Megaman games, other than X on the SNES.

The games look damn good on the PS2 through component video. I hear 2 is the best in the series, so after I get my nostalgia fix from 4, is that the one to start digging into?

I had this for the Xbox and there was something peculiar about my copy. It specifically says right in the manual that you are only allowed to save one game at a time, and that saving to another game will cause the previous save to be deleted.

But my copy didn't work that way, I had saves for all of my games at the same time.

Honestly the best thing about either is the cool cover art on the large boxes. None of the bonus material is really that great. As far as bang for my buck, the money spent on the original sega ones was better spent. But there is something to be said about the large boxes and great cover art. They stand out.

This. Ordered it, it's a Famicom homebrew made last year. Awesome music, might have iffy/shit gameplay, but I have no way of knowing since there's pretty much nothing on its existence besides RIKI's website for it.

Should arrive next week or so if customs doesn't think importing loli doujins again.

I know GBA's not considered retro, but these games sure are. I've been hankering to play some old RPGs lately and I just couldn't get into the FF remakes on the DS. Decided on the GBA versions of these since I prefer to play RPGs on handhelds.

No actual retro hardware, but I picked up a few of those arcade compilations for the PS2. Seeing King of Dragons in action in the original form is simply stunning next to the SNES version. I mean, its not as big a difference as in many games (and in many ways is actually very impressive how good a port the SNES could do), but seeing one of your favorite console beat em ups in higher res, with better detail and better music is a great treat. You can even see the wizard's face, he has a beard and everything. I always thought he was just some sort of demon goblin thing like the FF Black Mage.

Its multitap compatible, too!

Never played that one, and now I have access to it, so it'll be played in the not too distant future. I love all those type of games. Golden Axe, D&D, King of Dragons. The fantasy beat em ups are just so much cooler than Streets of Rage/Final Fight types of beat em ups.

I agree I do love streets of rage but I fucking adore golden axe even if most of the game is dancing with enemies. Its old school brutal, its got an amazing soundtrack the places they travel are amazing and its a love letter to conan the barbarian doesn't get much better than that imo. That first level music brings a tear to my eye.

Did Sega ever release the arcade port of Golden Axe to console? I know that Revenge of Death Adder is arcade only, but what about 1? I have it for both Genesis and Sega CD but I hate both ports and just play Golden Axe 2 instead. In 1 for Genesis, the music cuts out whenever an enemy screams, and in the Sega CD version they replaced all the screams with goofy "ow" voices. Both versions sound horrible.
