Alright so I posted in this "Physical Collections" thread on /v/. I was hoping at least one fucking person would see my TJ and Earl poster and say something.

No, I realized I just don't belong anymore. I guess it is time to jump to /vr/ with the rest of you nostalgia fags. I mean it just hurts because gaming seriously just sucks ass now and I thought I at least could enjoy talking about the stuff I liked on /v/ but now that's even shitty.

I seriously miss the days of posting on nintendo.com, the forums at least were entertaining...

pic related, most of my games. Can you guys post your collections to make me feel better?

Got unlazy and went and took a picture of my current PS1 (plus some dreamcast stuff) collection. I'd get my n64/snes collection out, but its a bit too late to be digging through my closet to get those totes out. They're a lot harder to display since they're mostly cart only :\

Might post my retro megaten moonrune games if people want, though.

Oh gods! I remember someone in my family bringing home a super famicom game, though back then we had no idea what to fit it into our super nintendo, so I think it just got lost in the shuffle. I don't even remember what it was :(

this edition comes with a calender book, a pen, and a business card holder...thing. I don't know what to call it, but its got the school logo imprinted on it. I'd use it if I wasn't afraid of getting it dinged up and such.

Also this. Remember when PC games came in boxes this big, but the cd was kept in a tiny jewel case? Giant space for nothing, not even the instruction booklet takes up that space.

It's more like a planner, it opens up like a book.

My friend picked it up for me at a convention and he said it cost him about 60. I've never seen this edition elsewhere, so I'm not sure if he was ripped off or not, but I really like it and its the center piece of my megaten import collection, so I think it's well worth it!

A midwestern located company called Gamers. I think for a while there our main store was the biggest store in the US to be dedicated to video games.

I get a lot of my collection there since discounts and connections. That's where I got my Nomad for fifteen bucks (including battery pack!). I can find just about anything I'd ever want and most of the time the prices are cheap compared to the going rate online.

Business at a game shop is real weird. We have everything back to Atari, but also present day shit, so we get a wide range of customers. Every game shop is going to have rednecks asking for call of duty, unfortunately. Problem is there's no way to keep our heads above the water if we just sold one or the other. We get a lot of trade ins when new systems come out, and used stuff is where we make our money (the margin is huge, but we don't jew people as much as gamestop does).

We also sell phones and shit but that's just...yeah, an entire different thing I don't quite understand.

We also get a mad amount of chodes that rode in only because of the boom in the retro game marketplace, always surprised to see n64 games as expensive as they are now...because of themselves.
45$ for smash bros? Yeah, because everyone and their bro wants to play it for nostalgia feels.

Yes, from my understanding the Japanese really don't have a strong used anything market, since most frown on buying used in the first place. It's why you can pick up a lot of 100 famicom games for 100 bucks or so, but its always some outrageous amount for shipping.

Had a friend visit Japan and pick up a Virtual Boy for 20 bucks or so, but spent 40 shipping it home. Egh.

>>1322057

Kind of, I don't actively seek first-release games unless they're unique (ex. FF7 misprint) or if the re-release has altered game-play (ex. Zelda OoT gold vs grey cart). Other than that, I don't mind having re-releases, but I would never pass on a potential label upgrade if the price were right.

You got off pretty cheap on that Mario Kart, we sell it in shop for about fourty or so. Mario Party though...is another store. SPEAKING OF...

Can't let a good chip go to waste in a broken cart, so someone made this at one of our stores.

At least some of those games you may be able to find for cheap at garage sales/etc. Go exploring, go to weird out-there cities too (like in the middle of nowhere) during garage sale season. You'd be surprised what you can find for mad cheap.

HOLY SHIT I WANT THAT, yeah I'm gonna start going to my flea market I just hate waking up so early. Typically the mexicans (no offense) over here will sell old games dirt cheap simply because they are nice people. That and yeah garage sales with crazy college dudes dying for a gram of bud. I bought a complete Nes with Shadowgate, Castlevania, Zelda 1 and 2, Ninja Turtles Arcade, and a few more for freakin 10 dollars. Get the rest of the castlevanias and mega man. With mega man, the higher in number you go the more expensive/rare they get (usually).

Really, though, pick up things you like or want. There's games I'll pick up simply because the name and cover art are interesting/make me laugh (Anticipation on the NES, or the batman joker returns game on the NES...really cool artwork for that one, btw).

With NES games, its hard to find them with manual or box, and when you do they'll be kind of pricey. Depends if you think its worth it or not. Sometimes used game shops will sell them cart only despite displaying the box, but if you talk the guy up you can get the box for free (s'how I got my Metal Gear box). SOMETIMES they'll have boxes but no carts, and usually those are free too (at least around here!).

You can only run around a skybox for so long before you've done it all.

That means that no matter how much games change you will always stay the same because it's all old to you.
