Well in L4D2 he's doesn't have much health, only 50. Common infected also have 50 health on Normal so I figure the Boomer should have the same health as the Zombie Man. He relies on stealth and distractions to get up to you and vomit but they can vomit a good 12 or so metres if they aim up and arc it.

I figure the Boomer is about Hell Knight tier.

Boomer would need a redesign to work in Doom without the rest of L4D2 but when the bile / horde is set up like in L4D2 someone could modify it themselves.

-A "wonkifyer tracer" in this context is a projectile that cycles through a series of actors, using +FRIENDLY a_look to test if it is in an area with monsters, then spawn() to test if it is in an open space, and then spawns an object that can be manipulated. It is not very accurate but it is the most accurate dynamic mapsweeping technique anyone's developed.

-Referencing the targeted player would be difficult and unreliable. TIDs can be changed on the fly by nearly anything and that is the only way to do it. Each time a player is biled he would need a TID assigned and then this TID stored in a global array for referencing later. ALTERNATIVELY, but more complexly, the bile itself or the player itself or even the boomer could run a script using setactivatortotarget(0) that constantly tracks the player and updates his coordinates into a specific address in said global array. You could then command the monster to go to that spot using a dynamically spawned mapspot. I have not ever tested the theory that this is even possible to do.

-Thing_Hate'ing a given actor does not guarantee infinite chasing of the actor. An imp in the other room that hates the player unconditionally will likely stay in that room, chasing the player relatively half-assedly. You will need to alter the behavior of every monster you wish to be compatible with this mod, to make them chase more aggressively and able to target monsters from farther away.

If you don't want to use TIDs to target your thing_hate you can make every monster have a separate Look state that is only active during bile time. It cycles through targets until it finds one with a bile inventory item and then runs a script to thing_hate it that way.

Spawning monsters nearby, out of LOS, and having them hate the player, is possibly the best way to do it. You may need to avoid trying to make already-existing monsters target you during biletime due to the unreliability of all possible implementations.

First of all, you can emulate the original executable with a dosbox, if you like clunky for the sake of clunky.

Second, there's Chocolate Doom, which emulates original Doom down to a fucking T, while remaining fully compatible with modern operative systems.

Third, there's Boom, and PrBoom, and all that jazz.

Fourth, there's ZDoom, and GZDoom, which is god-tier for making and playing mods.

I'm also working on a patch right now to fix reload sounds playing on the weapon channel which causes the tail of the firing sounds to be cut off. Essentially I'm just moving everything that doesn't have a tail (dryfire, slide, magin, etc) to channel 5. I strongly suggest you do the same for everything already made and everything in the future.

Also the patch has my smaller AmmoBox50 firing sound and 2 modified versions for variety. They aren't pitch shifted, they're just formant shifted for minor timbre changes.

Shotgun patch for SP is coming, just have to go eat sushi and watch movie and then do the ammo pickups (which will be single shells arranged in a pattern at spawn, a bit trickier for dropped shotguns but approximately the same.)

Shotgun using different ammo but in the same pool overall is done, reloading and deloading and selection of ammo types is already finished. Basically everything with the weapon actor itself is finished.

Well after fucking around with it I can safely say I have brain problems and can't suss it out. I'm asking a friend to try and stitch together a weapon pack ripped from other weapon packs, if he pulls it off would you guys want to use it? This is how it's going to be set up:

Chainsaw - Russian Overkill's Morning Star
Fist - Zharkov's fists from Zharkov goes to the store, complete with that pull off arm and throw it trick
Fist 2 - Alosha's ammo Satchel from Russian Overkill
Pistol 1 - Monster Mash's pistol, with an added manual reload, standard damage
Pistol 2 - Action Doom's projectile Pistol, Manual fire but can be clicked rapidly to shoot faster, slow bullets but each do plasma projectile levels of damage, possibly more

Players will hopefully spawn with those 5 weapons

Shotgun 1 - Vanilla Super Shotgun
Shotgun 2 - Russian Overkill's Quadvolgue (this thing is retarded, I love it)
Chaingun - Monster Mash's machine gun
Rocket launcher - Monster Mash's grenade launcher
Plamsa gun - Monster Mash's plasma gun

Aight, it's done.

Use altfire to cycle between different ammo types, it'll tell you which you have selected. After 25 tics (to give you time to change selection) it will unload ammo in the shotgun and then reload the selected ammo type. If you select ammo type you already have in the shotgun it won't do that and will just take you back to the ready state. If you don't have any other ammo types it will tell you. Shell colors are correct during this.

If you unload an ammo type while you have max shells outside of the gun the extra shells will be dropped to the floor where they can be picked up later if the player desires.

You cannot have different types of ammo loaded into the gun at the same time (this would be possible in the future though it will take a lot of decorate) however If you try to reload while the shotgun is empty and you're out of your selected ammo it will pick another to switch you to so that you don't have to go through the selection process in the heat of battle.

It keeps perfect track of different ammo types and will not produce discrepancies between the total shots carried and all the different types of ammo in normal play. There are currently discrepancies produced if a player IDFAs or IDKFAs, but that can be fixed easily and has been left in for testing. For double ammo on lower difficulties the spawning actors will have to be switched out to spawn double the amount of ammo (which can be done through difficulty settings.) Flags have been set so there won't be issues on lower or higher difficulties right now, the player just won't receive double ammo.

Which ammo the player has currently in their gun isn't evident from the default huds but there are a number of items a custom hud could track to make that known to the player.

Ammo spawns and their randomizers as well as ammo drops are working correctly; the numbers can be tweaked as you desire to balance gameplay.

A couple of minor tweaks have been made to durations (the two pump states are the same duration now) and some wonkiness with when the pump was taking place in relation to reloading has been fixed (it would sometimes not pump after reloading) and firing during reloading is easier to do but actually takes more time (so costs more to the player) as previously it would not pump after lowering the gun before firing. All of this was just stuff I saw that looked like it needed fixing but I'm not trying to shove gameplay changes on you.

Right now the different attacks aside from the buckshot are just placeholders to be recognizably different during testing.

All files that aren't a part of my changes have been removed; all the remaining ones are important.

So I finally finished Whispers of Satan and it was really fucking good. The last 10 or so maps were MUCH bigger and overall had much more interesting design. I even liked the final boss, I don't know how they are called but it's the boss of Doom 2 : the wall-head you have to shoot into the hole of its head. Im trying out satanic on the original doom 2 missions with the latest gzdoom and im getting an error that says "I dont know what satanic health adder is" when I use the right-click blood shot to kill an enemy. I started playing Doom 2 The Way ID Did. I thought the first one was a masterpiece and it's probably part of what inspired me to start the Metropolitan Mayhem episode for Duke3D (an episode with several mappers making small maps in the style of the original game).

While I'm having a lot of fun with 2, it certainly doesn't stick to the original game as much as the first one which is kind of a shame. Here it's more like the map takes the concept of the original one and does something completely different with that concept in a mid 90's detailing and texturing style.

Icon of Sin in Doom 2's level 30 is pretty easy.
You can get a rocket in on the ascent and you can get a rocket in as you jump off.

Is there any way to keep weapons after dying/map restart in survival mode? I'm trying to come up with a way to play co-op Doom that would approximate playing the game on single player and starting from the map-change autosaves.

I don't like the way regular coop basically negates death by having you respawn, and the whole party can die repeatedly and still beat the level through brute force, but I also don't like that everyone has to pistol start when the map resets in survival.

I just want a way to play Doom with my friends that won't feel like cheating but also won't be inaccessibly hard for my less experienced friends.

Failing a survival option for such, is there a console command I could use to restart the map without forcing everyone to reconnect to the server? I remember in a source port I used years ago there was a "map" command and a "warp" command. One would just zap you to the beginning of the specified map with all your current weapons/ammo/health/etc. and the other would set your stats like you started a new game.
